I would have preferred for the players to say what kick point their main stick is. Try all 3 sticks, then pick the one they like best and see if the kick point matches their main stick. I don’t particularly care to hear if the player can guess the stick brand and model. With that said. I’d love to see a blind stick tests where you guys measure shot speed. Does a different kick point really affect the shot speed that much. Or is kickpoint all feel. Let the players start with a shot from their main stick for a baseline, then the blind sticks. Also shot speed with high, mid range, and low end sticks. This could also be done with an accuracy test.
The amount of tape used could easily change the weight and feel of the stick. It won’t mess with the flex so much but definitely change how the stick would feel.
@@AlanenJ It would change the kick point and feel of the stick when shooting and performing other skills tests. Personally I would be able to tell that weight difference right away, but that's with over 25 years of experience. There's a couple older videos of Phil Kessel and other NHL pros talking about the candy cane tape job they do and how they will tighten up the gaps if they want the kick point and feel a little stiffer. My main point was that spray paint probably would have been better to cover up the graphics. Especially if they're trying to guess between different stick brands that have different performance benefits.
I think a cool blind test concept would be tapping up JJ and Tommy’s current stick they play with and seeing if they can correctly identify their own stick!
Seeing the different stick materials and stick building types could be really cool. For example a wooden stick vs a carbon stick, as well as the different types of manufacturing, such as 1 full piece or multiple different pieces.
True HT. I got to try a bunch of sticks back to back a while ago (different brands, models, kickpoints etc). I went in looking at maybe getting a ribcore or qre, but hot damn the HTs are absolute dynamite.
It would be very interesting to use a radar gun to capture the shot speed of wrist shots, snap shots and slap shots using the different sticks in a blind test to see which truly offers the best performance for each shot type.
My obvious suggestion would be: same stick - different flex. Especially f.ex. a more high kick stick, where many saying it's harder to lift the puck on a wrist shot. Go intermediate to stiff
Why do you guys wrap the sticks in tape horizontally instead of doing vertical strips? You’d probably use way less tape and it would take far less time...

How about looking for the difference in older models to the latest models. like Reebok ribcor (or CCM ribcor reckoner) to the CCM ribcor trigger 3d or Warrior Covert QR1 to the latest QRE. It would be awesome!
I would have liked to see a comparison of the puck velocity of each kick point doing slap shots. The slow moving stick handling through the legs, behind the back and flicking it top shelf at the goal line isn't much of a test. There were some wrist and snap shots in there but even those don't load the sticks as much as a slap shot so I'm still confused and need to watch another video to find out the information I came here for.
the original jetspeed was a high kickpoint stick so i wonder what changed. Also i think you should compare something like a bauer supreme adv and a supreme 2s pro
Does anyone have experience with changing flex for the different kick points??? I have always been 85 flex mid kick I want to try a low kick and or a 75 flex... but not sure if changing drastically to a 75 low kick is too severe

Should have put a warrior qre in there rather than the jetspeed. It’s rather easy to identify even without markings but the kick is lower than anything else I’ve ever had (Bauer nexus, Bauer vapor, warrior dynasty(shame those were discontinued) and ccm rbz(remember those))
Chris can you dive deeper into the fact that JJ wrongly described the Bauer Supreme 2S Pro (the hallmark of so called "High-kick point sticks" as a "low-kick stick"? How is that even possible? I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this. Best, Miha
youre not wrong about the accuracy part, but he isn't wrong about the power. when they discontinued the rbz and made the jetspeed, they changed the "accuracy" to "power" to market it too defenceman. But I personally still think it's an accuracy stick, and I think the jetspeed gets more power because of the hybrid kickpoint. They advertised the jetspeed as a dangler and sniper stick, it has amazing blade feel, but that's why so many d man use it cause of the power. They had McDavid use it in ads, even though he uses a gen1 super tacks, and they really went all in with Tavares using it. so it really all comes down to preference

Can you explain in more detail (feelings, results) of "hybrid" kickpoint? Do you actually understand the concept? Hybrid would mean differet things mixed into a new thing, but I doubt anything like this is even technologically possible. What do you think?
i’m honestly not surprised that he thought the 2s was a panther or whatever, because i’ve always used high kicks and when i got a 2s it doesn’t feel like a good stick, plus it takes 2 months to get used to, it’s so weird
Chary what do you mean by "doesn't feel like a good stick"? What is "wrong" with the 2S? Now if you remember correctly not only did J not giess correctly about the 2S stick, he even thought it was a low-kick stick!! How is that even possible?
If they could put the old X60 blades on the Nexus, it would be a perfect stick. I love the way it shoots but for whatever reason, I can't stick handle or pass well with them. The blades feel terrible. Actually, all the "top of the line" sticks are terrible now. They are WAY too light. Anyone that really plays and understands what you need out of your stick knows that you don't want these sticks as light as they are. Almost everyone I know that used top tier sticks has gotten worse. And pros don't even use them. I get a lot of pro stock sticks and none are as light as some of these newer ones. They are always like 1 or 2 down from the top with the top's paint job. I guess I can't speak for everyone. Just the pros and people I know.
was this video about testing different sticks or showcasing the wonderful talents, I don't see how what they were doing was testing the sticks for kick point...just a bunch of messing around...this video is beyond useless
Someone says this every video and he has weighed them without and with the tape and it's not even close to as much weight as you guys seem to think lmao.
