Thanks so very much ... I have been searching for information on the destruction and damage at Blind Pass for days...It looks like Castaways and The Mad Hatter didn’t fare to well...made lots of memories there with family and friends...Prayers for all who lost loved ones and homes ...

I like these videos. Had been to Sanibel and Captiva many times. My Uncle had a place on Sanibel decades ago but moved to Naples. Getting back to the videos, I am amazed on how clear the video is and the range of this drone. The drone gives us the ability and a different view of the world around us. Thanks for the views. Keep it up.

Your drone video footage is awesome! You should be selling it to the news outlets. One thing I think would be very cool is if you could overlay a map to show approx area. We typically travel to Fort Myers area every winter but other than the Times Square / Pier area, I couldn't really place the footage or the affected areas. Thanks.

Blind Pass is the little pass or inlet between Sanibel and Captiva spanned by the short bridge shown at the start of the video. The video starts at the southern- most tip of Captiva looking south and then moves southeast over the bridge to the Sanibel side. Here you can see the wreckage of the Castaways cottages -- with its little yellow A-frame office building.

Congratulations - Excellent video, and very well done! My family and our Florida relatives sometimes vacationed at the Castaways, so I was very much looking forward to a video such as this one. I found it fascinating to see all the interesting homes there, and how they stood up to the hurricane. To my surprise, most did surprisingly well. But the vegetation really seemed decimated. Thanks again for this high quality video!

Now lets be honest here. The eye wall of a Cat 4 (borderline Cat5) hurricane buzz sawed through this area slowly. And yes the damage is great. But just look at how many places are standing and how many metal roofs withstood everything nature tossed at them. I would have expected everything to look more like the Sanibel Causeway with huge areas just wiped away. But much of it stands. The first floors may have flooded but wow, the construction is amazing.

53 years in SE Florida and last September was the first and only time we surfed Florida's west coast (for Hurricane Larry). We surfed just South of blind pass and parked in that lot past the bridge at 0:55. The sand bar was perhaps 200 yards off the shore and it appears to have been washed away with much of the beach sand.

Wild to think how HARD Sanibel fights affordable housing, because it might affect "the island charm" and "property values." Now the island is an uninhabitable wreck of yachts and mansions.

@@JoeinWashDC lots of money on those islands. Most of the homes are seasonal. Army corps of engineers only have to put a temp bridge. Using barges. Fla is without a doubt is a unique lifestyle. I was born and raised in South Florida. In the early 60s it was hurricane Donna. To name a few, Hugo, Matthew Andrew and so many more. But I also have lived in other places West Virginia Kansas Michigan Georgia. I’ve traveled different places in the world. Every place is unique. But when you live in Florida especially on the coasts the east or the west side you have to take into consideration there will be hurricanes. This one was a doozy. It affected the multi million dollar homes on the water with their boats in their swimming pools, it affected the two bedroom one bath 950 square-foot house built back in the 60s. It affected the rich and the poor. What I’m saying is living here in Florida there is that risk. Anything I have learned when they say it’s a category two take your prize possessions your legal papers your medication and some clothes board up your house and leave. My heart goes out to all those who lost. But I still love Fla

The home owners have to get the debris off their land and put it at the curb and then the city/town picks it up off the side of the road. NO insurance does not pay for this. This is all flood damage and every flood policy is capped at 250K. So if you have a 5 million dollar home, the most you will get paid for a flood is 250K.
