ShadowBolt My theory is that the Sun and Moon move on their own, it's just more efficient for Celestia and Luna to move them.

I think the whole "magic disappearing forever when the Sun sets on the 3rd day" was just an writing error, and Celestia really was just talking about how much time they had to get the magic back, whether she sets the Sun or not. If she'll said they had a certain of hours to get Equestria's magic back instead, there's been no plot hole.

@Yuma DeSenn I agree because it only makes sense. In season 1 ep 15 'Feeling Pinkie Keen' she had this Pinkie sense that could sense when things were about to occur/happen. People describe it as an 'unusual ability'. Also, all the other creatures lost their abilities, and so did the ponies. That means that her Pinkie sense isn't just an unusual ability or coincidence, but magic. Also, Also, since it is confirmed to have run in the family, it isn't just her talent like talking to animals, which is why Fluttershy was still able to.

She still failed to understand the true power of friendship, but she tried to use friendship as a weapon against Equestria the way Neighsay thought other creatures would. Sociopaths are typically made that way through things like childhood abuse and are still capable of forming some bonds with specific people and reducing their antisocial behavior to a degree. Psychopaths are simply born that way, are literally incapable of caring at all about others or the consequences of their actions, and are overall more dangerous.

Personally, I don't even think she's a pony. Her comment to Starlight "You ponies" started me down that path. My thoughts? It was revealed that, for season 9 we'd be getting another old Gen 1 villain coming in with an overhaul, like they did for Tirek. Grogar was some kind of goat, I believe, who had some pretty powerful magic. In order to be any kind of threat at all, he would need magic like that, anyway. Who's to say that magic couldn't include some sort of shape changing ability, similar to a changelings? Part of me wonders if we've not already met Grogar. . . .

Yep, right now, Cozy Glow seems to just be a power-hungry, sociopathic (if not psychopathic) filly. But I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if there's more to it than that, like it was for Starlight, who's didn't really want "equality" but friends, but was just just scared of losing them. If so, we'll find out in Season 9 when/if we get a backstory for Cozy. And that's if Cozy really IS a filly

I think something happened to make Cozy become the way she did too. I doubt they'll go TOO dark in a backstory for Cozy (this IS a show aimed for kids, not older viewers, but written so it can appeal well to older viewers too, with some things for us, and fans sometimes seem to forget that) But something like Cozy having a family that either gave her no attention or love and she simply just wants the attention she never got (not that much unlike Starlight, who really only wanted friends) or a family that puts power and control over all else and she picked it up from them, could work very well. Her manipulation skills could've either been something else she also picked up, or just a natural skill she has (her Cutie Mark strongly suggests it's a natural ability) As far as the more serious mental health issues, Cozy definitely looks to have some, and the show have gone there already with (at least) Fluttershy and Starlight, so they should be able to do it for Cozy as well. While it might've been toned down a bit from what usually triggers PTSD in real-life, Fluttershy is a character that seemed to suffer from PTSD in the earlier seasons, from being picked on by bullies so much as a filly, which made the poor thing become EXTREMELY shy with next to no confidence. In some ways, Starlight even seemed to have it too, with how terrified she was of losing friends again after she thought Sunburst left her behind, how far she went to keep it from happening again and become a villain, and even after Twilight took her under her wing at the start of Season 6, she still had a couple of panic attacks when she just faced the possibility of being rejected (even though some fans still can't understand now she felt the way she did, and laugh at what we know about her past, while others like myself can get it) And then there's the theory that Cozy's not even a filly, but something else.

Going by everything we've seen Twilight and the Mane 6 teach about friendship, it doesn't appear that it can really be Twilight's fault Cozy thought friendship was actual power or control, since even the parts about doing good deeds is simply a part of being a good friend, or for that matter a good person: friends help each other out if they see their friends having trouble with something. So that, or anything we've seen, shouldn't had gotten Cozy the idea that friendship is power, unless she already had that idea, (which a backstory on Cozy could help explain) and she then took the lessons as such.

@@Gokuvstheworld Well, I mean, it was firmly established that friendship is powerful, and they were teaching great things, but exactly how it was taught may have made a connection in Cozy's mind because of her upbringing, and the mindset she brought with her when she enrolled in the school. Still, being required to do good deeds is a bad homework assignment for more reasons than that.

@@Kayta-Linda I agree. Sandbar should undoubtedly have been Loyalty. Yona could have either been kindness or generosity (frankly, though, those could have gone to anyone). But Sandbar at the very least should have been loyalty... Not that he isn't kind, of course, but loyalty was his test in What Lies Beneath, and it's also kinda the central aspect of his character.

More likely it was just the tree getting them out of the prison to remove the artifacts. This doesn't confirm them as new elements. Tree is the hero in this finale, by the way.

Chrysalis had planned to take the elements and use them against Starlight+mane 6 -- but seeing how the TREE protected them she just left... maybe she gave up on revenge?

Since there's a chance the journals would've still been active, at least till the 3rd day was over, so in theory, if Twilight had that journal with her in Tartarus, she might've been able to ask Sunset for help, especially if she wasn't sure if Starlight by herself could handle it, and wanted Sunset to help too. Of course, Twilight had no reason to even take the journal with her, but still. Though, considering that the "realm" Cozy was talking about wasn't the human world, I do wonder if the magic in that world would, or WAS, be effected too.

Since they didn't reform Cozy in this finale, I think it's better for the show to not tell her backstory for now, even though I read wanna know it too. I thought about it, and If they told her backstory that's even semi-understandable, but still put that filly in Tartarus, I really don't think it'll go over well by fans, because she's still just a filly, and some are mad about it as it is. On a related note, I kinda get the feelings that fans complained about the villains reforming without punishments one too many times...

I came to that conclusion based on the color they were glowing as well. To be honest, I think that Gallus does represent magic the best out of them all.

Cozy set her vortex to drain magic right infront of the Tree of Harmony's roots. She was just asking for it to stop her. Also the tree knowing what's going on and actively helping to stop threats has happened many times before. Giving the Mane 6 the locked box which proved vital to defeat Tirek, destroying Starlight's time travel spell, straight up killing the Mean 6, not to mention all the map episodes. The tree has been a sentient deus ex machina for a couple seasons now, and it's only getting more sentient. Is it bad for plot development (Since the heroes having an unstoppable force at their side isn't good for making a villain a threat)? Maybe. Is it forced? No. Honestly, I feel like they're setting things up for the Tree of Harmony to get destroyed in the series (or a season) finale with how powerful it's getting.

I just feel weird with the fact that such a great villan was "Stopped"(except not) by a tree, I understand that she made a mistake by putting it in the tree of harmony but(oh boy here comes a theory that I'm creating while writing a comment XD)what if she had to, what if tree was nesesary for her spell to work... let's go all out, and accept it as a fact(it's not over) that would mean that the tree has something to do with magic... well duh but what I mean is, if they needed the tree to *collect* magic it would mean that the tree not only(and maybe even not necessarily) has a magic on it's own but it has the power to collect magic from the universe, and now that I came up with this it really does make sense, what if Trees only power is to collect magic from the world (I'm positive that in Equestria *Everything* has some ammout of magic... it's kinda like energy in our world) and by using that magic it is able to perform all of these amazing feeds, you probably don't understand what I mean Because I tend to get chaotic with my comments but it would all make sense and it would be satisfying to me so I can accept that theory, so here's how I see it all playing out: Cozy didn't take all the magic in Equestria, just a small piece of it, she didn't even take half as much as Tirek who didn't take all of it too, She wanted to take a very specific parts of magic, these that could possibly interrupt her plan, she was able to control it thanks to this circle which is under the artefacts and knew how to do it thanks to Tirek, she also had to build it under the roots of the tree of harmony because it can collect magic from the universe so the spell itself wasn't really collecting magic, it forced the tree to collect it and leater was supposed to send it to another demention, and Because it required to be under the tree of harmony Cozy had to take the risk of loosing Because of it but she was prepared for that as well, she decided that it's better if she prepares a plan B in case if tree really would stop her, she planned to make them send her to Tartarus, by showing that if they don't she will come back with new friends, and thanks to that she was able to meet Tirek and we will find out the rest in the finale of season 9, drops the mic XD Also What do you mean, Destroying Starlight's time travel spell... am I forgetting something...

Which is what fueled my belief that the Tree let it happen to help Starlight. The Tree could easily have done that before it happened. But it instead let it play out. Sometimes it takes extreme measures to get through to someone and help them. That there never was any danger to begin with.

My little pony is a kids show, nothing really needs to make sense. But agree with you, but maybe she doesn't have parents?

I do. I wouldn't like the feel of having multiple adult villains reform (Luna, Discord, Starlight, Tempest, Stygian, and Sunset if we count her too) but not have a villain that's a little filly also do it, and it wouldn't fit this show if it doesn't happen anyway. Unless there's more to Cozy than it seems, and she's not actually a filly, then I wouldn't mind if she's reformed or not.

Since the weather works normally in the evergreen forest and most likely outside Equestria’s borders we can safely assume that’s how the sun and moon work as well. so for this time period without magic i’ll have to guess that the sun and moon rise like the rest of the world outside equestria. would be strange to only raise and lower them for equestria but that’s how the weather works so...
