Blind Willie McTell is probably the east coast's most renowned early blues musician. He's local to my area so I wanted to do a video on him and do a version of Statesboro blues. Josh Martin is helping me on an antique parlor guitar. Very special thanks to Lewis Smith and the McDuffie County Museum. Mr Smith showed us all sorts of fascinating items in the museum including some of James Brown's suits from the 60's.

This was great! I’d love to see more biographies, it’s a great way to teach the history of blues

Thanx so much for keeping bluesmen like Blind Willie McTell still known and imitated today. His 12 string, Piemonte style is truly unique.

This is great stuff to impart. Got “Last Session” on vinyl, back in the 80s. It still gets played regularly. Great vid. One thing I’d add, he did lots of non-blues stuff, basically playing to his audience. His version of “Wabash Cannonball” is remarkable.

Great tribute to Blind Willie, he had the beat of the piedmont, but also the darkness of the Delta. Your channel is amazing, I enjoy it very much. Im from Argentina, sorry for my english if its not perfect

Informative, respectful and very well done Edward. What an amazing collection at the museum - shame about the guitar fiasco. They’d be mad not to have you play at the ‘Blind Willie Festival’ Edward - particularly after this performance! Thumbs up to Martin for backing you up on this great performance.

Nice. Love hearing about blind bards. Homer, author of the ancient Odyssey was also a blind bard. Thanks.

This is really well done. And the outdoor performance on 12-string and parlor guitar terrific. I’m NW of Atlanta so one day I’ll make a pilgrimage down to McDuffie Co.

A very interesting and well made video. Although most of the time people like Blind Willie seem so distant and from such a different age, as one gets older one realises it's not so. Blind Willie only started recording about 30 years before I was born in the early '60s! 30 years doesn't seem like so long to me anymore.

This was a very good video as usual Edward! I really enjoy your work and finding facts about all these great guys & gals from the past. You and your friend do a mighty fine job on the Statesboro Blues...I think it is one if the best versions I've ever heard! Blind Willie would agree! Keep this stuff coming, you are the right guy to tell these stories and give perspective!😎👍🇺🇸

Man that was over the top fantastic Edward! I never knew that he wrote Statesboro Blues. We all know that the Allman Brothers version is one of the best songs ever recorded in the history of rock. Thanks so much for doing this video & I hope that you are doing well & staying safe! 👏👏👍👍🎸🎸🎸🎸

I'm sure Gregg Allman knew who wrote it, after all he introduced Duane to black blues slide and he became one of the best too, in much demand everyone to play with Duane Allman Thanks Gregg

At the end were you playing an Oscar Schmidt 12 string? I just got one I was like his looks pretty familiar. I got mine bc of Leadbelly! Got it last week haven't put it down. There's nothing heavier. Now I'm researching BWM. One of the heaviest of his time period.
