I’ve tried Vuarnet Nightlynx for night driving and they actually seemed to enhance the headlights! For other activities in low light such as hiking they would be great but if there’s artificial light it enhances it. That’s actually what they were designed to do but it exemplifies the paradox of “low light” lenses. It seems a low light specific lenses are yellow. Pink might be effective. I used the Smith Low Light Ignitor (glass and polarized which seemed to help with the light “scattering”) for a long time and it was the best I’ve tried. With the ridiculously intense projector beams vehicles are using today, this is a real issue. Let’s also not forget that you are probably looking through a wavy glass windshield to further complicate matters! Interesting video topic! Cheers

Certainly liked this better than the night lynx in terms of headlights at night, but it’s still not quite “it”. My middle ground here forever has been a blue blocking base with a golden AR on a clear lens. Lots of praise for this combo in my shop. 🤌🏻😎

My exact issue. I don’t like night driving because of extreme glare. Do you have a recommendation for extreme sun during day where the sun is right in front. It’s very dangerous and I’ve purchase dozens of sun glasses but none are good enough

A brown base with a SOLID blue mirror (not a flash, double gradient, etc.). Maui Jim Blue Hawaii lens in their super thin glass (specifically needs to be this version) and Revo H20 mineral glass both come to mind as off the shelf options in this category 😎 As for night, windshield cleaned to perfection is a huge factor, but blue light lenses with a properly tuned AR coating for headlights can be a game changer. 🥂

First, these are different than a normal pink dye, and are pink because of how the coating attenuates light, rather than a dye creating the look. Vastly different wearing experience 😁 As for the text i have no idea what happened, and am using a new setup for editing and recording and for the life of me couldn’t find how to flip it back rushing this morning 😂 long story there I’ll spare ya but should be fine again next time 😂 this is my long winded way of blaiming apple and my new MacBook 😂😂

Great video. I have always wondered about night time lenses. With regular use how long do you think coatings last? I get about 1 year before I can tell that they are not as good.

A top quality coating can last from 2-5 years depending on use, environment, and care. I actually have some in my personal collection thin that are 10 years old and like new.
