Do a game of drunk bowling, or sleep deprivation bowling. And for the really daring, try bowling with marijuana in your system, in a state where it's legal of course. Then again, the latter might get you demonetized, so probably not.
I am actually in a blind bowling league, you would be surprised how well we can do 🤪. I am partially sighted, however I cannot see the pins at all, and not even the arrows on the lane… Right now my best score is 193 but I expect to be throwing in the 200s in the nut distant future. i’m glad you made this video, and I think it would be interesting if you ever came to North Carolina to get a hold of me and you can make a video about blind bowlers!
I liked this challenge and would love to see you hit 100--I like you doing challenges in general. Would love to see a future vid with the commenter that's in a blind bowling league!
Why do I envision this becoming some sort of social media viral challenge? Friday nights at the local Bowlero could get more interesting than they already are...
Excellent video to show adaptation to a physical disability. Toward the end of the game you were getting better Packy! Old saying in the land of the blind the one-eyed is king. I am not disparaging the visually impaired in the world. I am amazed when I see visually challenged people function as well as they do in indoor and outdoor environments.
I haven't tried blind bowling, but tried just looking down at the foul line. It went surprisingly well, probably because I focused more on my footwork and release. Bowled like 170 with some lucky spares. It was a longer pattern (45 feet or something), and I used a Storm Crossroad ball. I'll try fully blindfolded next time 😅
Not a bad affect packy take it from a legally blind person that biwling in normal league I have advanced glaucoma and have next to no vision in left eye only see light and only 20% in right eye but finnished 4th last season and in first place at the minute good days see pins but see like 30 not 10 and bad day only see white things but I use the pin layout on the monitor to work out pins lifted and on bad days everyone really good with me and call out pins for me and I kick the step on the aproch to know where to stand avg 129 with high games without handicap of 208 so I do ok but you did ok for first time you don't realise how much you use your eyes until they go I lost mine in under 8 months with be diagnosed and have had 9 op 23 needls and lazer treatment but love my bowling been doing since I was 13 now 45 so part of life now and love it with the good and bad days keep up the cool content
I am in the same blind bowling league as dumattco and we would love to challenge you. This was a great video, but you should try against real visually impaired/blind bowlers
Might keep that blindfold in your tourney bag so you have a secret weapon for the USBC Masters next year since the conditions are so easy you need an additional challenge so you don't run away with the lead. LOL!
Also… If you want to do the challenge correctly… You need to keep the blindfold on the whole time you should not be able to see the ball as it goes down because a blind bowler cannot see their shot. And you should have somebody there with you and they can pin a spot for you… They can tell you which number pins are left after your first throw so that you can pick up the spare… That’s how we blind holders do it 🤪
I want to do this with two man teams. You can not pick up the ball until the blindfold is on. Your team mate lines up your feet and tells you where your feet ended and what mark you sat down on to how far it runs out or in and where you hit and what you left.. They help you line up for the spare the same. The mask stays on until you step off of the approach to set down. You then help your fellow team mate. I once 150 or 20 years ago seen a professional female bowler who lost her vision and she bowled a perfect 300 game. I have always wanted to try it.
I guess as a lefty who doesn't have a purple Hammer, must be why I'm not throwing 8 baggers 🤣 I do have a Black Widow 2.0 I absolutely love though that's gotten me a few doubles and turkeys
Former All-American duckpin bowler here.... would love to see you give that a try, but definitely need to head to the East Coast. I'm amazed you didn't fall over (good edits or good balance? 😂).
@@TheHouseBowling That's right. Sorry I spaced on that. Anyway, that's awesome to hear. So many duckpin houses have closed it is nice to hear there were still some where you grew up.
If you decide to do this again, a idea to help might be to add a little loft to your release. I’m just picturing it in my mind and that seems like a good way to get more consistent with your aim. Also, kind of along the lines of not seeing, an idea for a future video is to pick ten different lanes to bowl a game on, one frame per lane, and have someone else pick the oil pattern for that lane without you knowing about it before hand. 10 lanes, 10 frames, 10 oil patterns, and no practice before hand.
Adding loft is not a way to get a more consistent aim...the only way increase aiming consistently that I can think of would be to take the blindfold off or to not do an approach
I was just thinking the other day, you should for no reason just start bowling with an eye patch and give some goofy reason and see how many young bowlers start wearing and eye patch💀
In our blind league, we actually set up rails on each side of the approach meeting up to the lane, so the blind bolers can hold onto the rail as they approach the lane and once the rail stops they know they are at the opening to the lane… It also helps orient them to the main so they can throw properly 🤓
Your coordination is way off. Here is your real problem. YOU HAVE NO SLIDE, and come to a dead stop at foul line and if your timing is a wee bit off, you have no time to adjust. Your body is fighting two different forces. Without blind fold on you, I noticed your timing is way off kilter, even when you are in a tournament. When you put that blind fold on, now your body is actually doing your normal movements. I am a former Regional Pro, back in the 70's When my body and the timing on everything is perfect I can look away from the pins and know precisely when the ball hits the pins. That is how well I got. My style is close to Nelson Burtons Jr. style but not so stiff like he was. Yes I went up against Nelson Burton, Earl Anthony, Petraglia, even Pete Weber, and many others over time. For some reason your brain cannot picture the lane in front of you, and for you to bowl your normal rhythm. Once you master bowling blind folded, now you can bowl in your pro tournaments with your eyes shut if need be, and you will be very good because your body will have a sync motion instead of fighting two forces. Tip, stop trying to imitate Belmonte and some others. Slide your feet to the foul line, not stop like you just hit a semi truck. Good luck
