Same goes for the whites and grays used (i believe the grey top on her Vocaloid 2 cover art is the same tone used for the "DX" part of the DX7 logo). The Weeknd actually knows what you can do with autotune paired with synth leads, and Miku is autotune incarnate.

They bought a vocaloid4 and if you know Japanese, there are tutorials by Yamaha or Japanese producers and even a book or two that could help. Basic things, like inputting notes and lyrics, saving, pause/play should be pretty easy to figure out just from diveing straight into the software and trying things out. Studying musical theory, phonetics(X-SAMPA is particularly useful), and the phonology of how your chosen Vocaloid's language sounds when spoken naturally, and how people's voices changes when they sing, all are useful topics to study. The other option is to just play around in the software and do things, and then get feedback from someone, either online or offline on how it sounds, and try again and again until you get better. For the feedback, be sure to look out for constructive criticism which neither writes your work off as terrible or amazing with little ryhme or reason. Find someone who is honest, hopefully kind, and thoughtful enough to reason out what part of your work needs improvement or is good and not just hate it or give you empty praise. Take into consideration also the range of pitches in the song you are covering or writing and the optimum range and tempo of your chosen voicebank. If it's outside their range, you may want to use a different voicebank or transpose the notes to their range. I prefer a combination of the two approaches, but some people who have a stronger background in a musical instrument already and are more intutive/less analytical just do 'what sounds right' with the trial-by-error method. You could also start doing covers of your favorite Vocaloid producers' work or other muscians- and download a VSQ or a MIDI or sheet music and transfer it to Vocaloid, or watch Vocaloid songs on youtube that showcase the vsq like YZYX's Cosmosnauts.
