They played fucking tight back then. I also like it that Scott doesn't go apeshit ramping up the speed, like Travis does, causing Tom and Mark to fall apart on stage.
Travis rarely even laughed which I can’t believe considering his band mates are Mark and Tom who are fucking hilarious, they went as far as saying that getting him to chuckle meant it was hilarious and getting him too laugh is borderline impossible
so refreshing to see Mark Tom and Scott....dude ranch is by far the blinkest it gets...blink at its best. I feel like uncle Rico....just want to jump into a time machine...go back live the punk life all over
@@sawyercannon2404 ay man im with u, im 15 and pissed I couldn’t have been there so im just stuck with annoying people with their music and playing it on my guitar
@@mrsparethnot I wouldn't go that far. Mark, TOM and Travis Show had a good set too. After Take off your pants and jacket came out, that had a pretty good set too
k roq almost acoustic christmas December 5,1997 Night 1 (Saturday): Jane's Addiction, No Doubt, Scott Weiland, Sarah McLachlan, Beck, Matchbox Twenty, Rancid, Fiona Apple, Smash Mouth, Blink-182, Sneaker Pimps, Chumbawamba
thank you so muccchh.. this is the clearest Old Blink live with good video quality, good sounds. and i can watch them close, even though this just videos.
Now i understand!!! Thanks God for my youth!! blink 182 was this!! This very blink! This natural Tom's voice and punky clear drumming beats with Scott!!!!!!!
Best video on youtube !!! I never thought to see such a good pro shot from the scott era !!! Love him see laughing and playing around on the drums ! Also Tom and Mark sounds so good here !!!
Holy shit, this takes me more than 20 years in the past. Their sound back then, their voices, the tracklisting, their jokes in-between songs, the intros for many songs, they basically gave a shit about everything. This is Blink-182 at their ABSOLUTE BEST, before the mainstream screwed them.
They were already mainstream back then. And as much as I hate NINE, i dig the post dude ranch era till the untitled. They always liked/played pop music. Do you expected his guys played the same college "funny" punk their whole lives? By their 30s It already looked pathetic.
Tom is the only one that really stopped trying. And after they got back together he always summed to just mumble and phone it in. Fame didn’t do it. Well actually maybe since I don’t think tom handled it well
@@codycast More like Tom's lawer. After seeing his Pursuit of Tone documentary after years of only hearing Mark's side, I think he just got burned out, and I don't blame him; it's actually pretty common with punk bands. The break up was messy though and I think a lot of it had to do with miscommunication caused by their lawyers. But yeah, either punk bands end up playing the same music for 30+ years without change, take a break and go on hiatus, or create side projects so they can continue to experiment with their sound. I don't think Tom ever stopped trying - some of his best work is with AvA; I think he honestly just got tired of Mark and Travis and touring. He also decided to prioritize being a parent. In more recent performances, you can see Mark and Travis would take their kids with them on tour. I can honestly see that being taxing on the kids; it's not the lifestyle for everyone. Tom being able to work on his creative endeavors, while caring for his kids, and creating music on his own time is something to be admired; I honestly don't think he gets enough credit for it. Now that Blink has 10+ ghost writers and has artists like Pharrell and Lil Uzi co-writing on the tracks of the new album, it seems like they are suffering serious burnout as well. Not really feeling their newer stuff anyway. If anything, Mark should just continue Simple Creatures and maybe give Blink a break, especially since Matt still has Alk3 amd Travis is always collabing with hip-hop artists. Just my two cents.
@@punkgrl325 agree with all of that. But if they were going to perform, they should give it their all for their fans. Travis and mark did. But tom just made a joke out of the fact he didn’t care. That sucked to see.
*mark:* tom got kicked out of highschool for drinking liquor *tom:* I shouldn't have used it for my enema *mark:* that's why he's so damn stupid (clapping) give it up ((fondly insults best friend)) love the way they show affection 😆 10:40
This is some rare footage.. Always wanted to watch them back at the beginning of their careers, doing their jokes and playing their best songs! Amazing Setlist!!
This is from the KROQ Acoustic Christmas show in 1997 - I was living in LA at the time but grew up in San Diego, and remember being surprised but proud that they’d been added to this show. As I recall, someone else dropped off the bill and blink was a last-minute replacement.
Every time I listen to live Untitled and Dick Lips I assure myself those are so underrated songs missing on setlists. Wish they played them in 2024. Fan for the past 23 years.
SETLIST 1. Pathetic - 00:20 2. Voyeur - 3:12 3. Josie (with intro) - 6:26 4. Dick Lips - 10:40 5. Untitled - 14:50 6. Dammit - 17:22 7. Depends - 20:00 8. M+M's - 21:55 9. Apple Shampoo - 24:54 10. Enthused - 28:20 This is the set list for this show if you'd like to skip to your favorite songs although i highly recommend listening to the funny as shit banter between our favorite punk band 🤘🏻 just don't forget to take your pants off!
I’m going to see blink in 2’days. Im so upset they will only play dammit out of all these songs. Dude ranch is by far my favourite album. At 37 I’m still listening to it
i'm not sure, i hadn't seen it before youtube. since it has multiple camera angles and some production behind it, i'm guessing maybe it was on a local TV station or maybe they sold this tape locally, i'm really not sure though. the uploader might know.
I love how this was such a subculture, the piercings, tats, dyed hair. We went thru hell in the mid to late 90’s pioneering this shit. Being 17 with tats and piercings got you expelled from school and the butt of jokes from the prep crowd (who all got the tats once it was verified and approved of as “cool”)
i’m honestly so jealous i wasn’t born around these times, i’m only 14 and i’m from the uk and i just wish that i can experience even just one song live from the old days :(((
