No one gives Matt credit, not only is he an awesome music and song writer in his own band(alkaline trio)but he made something awesome and different with blink 182 that Tom really couldn't do(he added a different tone, harmonies and vocal style...a different punk rawk edge 😎👌👏)I love the 2 albums we got and am glad Tom is back(he is a legend as well and recorded some of my favorite music and songs 😎👌👏 but I will miss Matt and what he added cuz I was excited about that version of the band and now it's gone. They were blessed to have 2 amazing guitarists and vocalists in their band back to back. Here's to the new album 🍻

@@konstantingeorgiev7521 He doesn't though; it's just constructive criticism. I'm going to try to break this down. I love Matt in Trio, but he has a completely different play style and singing style than Tom did in Blink that makes for bad composition music-wise. His vocals are much closer in timbre to Mark's, making the contrast of call and response sections in songs far less interesting, and he is more of a rhythm player than a lead guitarist, causing them to now utilize far less catchy mid-tempo to fast riffs that Tom used to regularly add to the mix. He also simplifies their older songs live in order to play them and doesn't improv like Tom did, again, making them less interesting to listen to live. Their set list is also now fairly static and only uses the same tiny selection of older songs for all their sets in addition to the newer ones (The Rock Show, Carousel (extremely simplified), What's My Age Again, Down, I Miss You, Dammit, (simplified) Dysentary Gary, etc.), and almost nothing from Neighborhoods or Dogs Eating Dogs, except Wishing Well. I highly doubt we will ever hear Wasting Time or even Boxing Day live with Matt. Suffice to say, when a band you invested a lot of time and emotions into just aren't performing as well as you know they can, and the music they're now putting out has 10+ different ghostwriters due to lack in writing chemistry, it's understandable to feel disappointed; fans who grew up with the band and are accustomed to a certain standard by now shouldn't be shamed for that imo. Honestly, I enjoyed Is This Thing Cursed? waaay more than I did either California or Nine, so a lot of it simply seems to come down to a lack of chemistry. Now, I personally don't want Tom back in the band as he was always drunk and clearly miserably with them. Besides, he seems happy with AVA. I don't blame Matt either as he is just a longtime friend filling in that's just trying his best. The only person I really blame is Mark. There are so many other guitarists in the pop punk/alt industry that can not only easily play their earlier stuff, but also actually add their own that's more in line with Blink's signature sound as a band, as well as improv live. Chris Greatti kind of showed this in Heaven; he created that song just jamming with Travis. While his guitars are very different, he actually combined interesting parts to make a solid composition for guitar, well, before it was killed by Feldman's mixing anyway, but I digress. It's even worse because he is known for having an extensive network due to being a producer for other bands as well as a former TV show host. Yet, he wanted Matt because he wanted to work with Matt, and there wasn't really any other reason beyond that. But yeah, instead of thinking some fans are Skiba haters, maybe just try to consider that many of us have been listening to this band for 20+ years and know what they're capable of. Having a bunch of mainstream pop ghostwriters writing their music now when they always used to write their own, a mediocre producer, and then having a serious lack of creativity when it comes to the guitar section compared to before, well yeah, people are gonna notice. I'm aware they're no longer in their prime and I'm not expecting anything like from their early days, but it would just be really nice to hear something on the same level of Dogs Eating Dogs or even Trio's Is This Thing Cursed? from them again. That's just my two cents.
