a lot of the songs on untitled, or at least the popular songs have similar chord progressions, but they all sound incredibly unique and nothing alike somehow
I have a theory that they wrote one of the songs and realized that he could either bend the note for Violence or mute it for Down making two songs out of one idea
My buddy played me this song called carousel in the early 2000s that he stole from his big brothers room, with a cat on the cover of the CD.....fell in love instantly to that off pitch whine of Tom, the rest was literally history.
It was blink's prime... such a shame that there was so much tension between all of them behind all of the success. They could have gone so much further.
Tom at his prime/ diamond days. they were so reckless.. I remember listening to this album and falling asleep. gone are the days of the blink 182 I loved. sob, sob.
@@Tony-kz1dl hardly a 90s band though. their fame was in the early 2000s. Dammit was like the only song they were known for before Enema, and Enema came out in late 99. All the small things is what put them on the map given that it was the first single from the album.
@Michael Jones the best one, whats wrong with you? the period when the blinks most mature and the best albums came out... come on maaan, you must be joking
This is the Tom I fell in love with and the band that influenced me to be who I am today. I will forever remember special moments like these in my heart. :)
They never sound live like they do on the CD, but they're such a great and unique band. A real fan like me thinks they sound bad ass live, especially those drums. Rock on Travis.
as weird as it sounds, I like Tom's voice like this, raw, loud and all that good stuff. It's what their music is about, none of this auto-tuned bullshit, just raw emotion.
I got into blink rather late, when I was 14 when the self titled album came out. Always listened to grunge so to me it was almost a natural liking for this album which is probably the most dark and more complex of blink. Chord progressions and the whole concept is rather mature and interesting compare to the previous ones. I just consider it a masterpiece.
@@PedroOliveira-zk3eu no feelings involved. Enema of the states and the self titled album. Best guitar, bass, and drumming. Truly sorry but that's the real code. "Neighborhoods, dog eating dogs" was so crap that i almost cried
@@PedroOliveira-zk3eu there 2 types of fans in the world. #1 the ones who would even smell the artist most terrible f4rts and say its the best. #2 the ones who can see the failures on the things they love. Enema Of The States & The Self Titled Album Will For Ever Be The Best Album Of Blink 182 in the eyes of fans #2 worldwide. They Did That Album With A Purpose. Not "just because" they did it with passion. Just like Michael Jacksons "Off Wall & Thriller" He really wanted to be somebody people could remember. In the life of an artist they're must be a moment that they have to make something that impact the whole genre and world. Just like Jimmy Eat Worlds "Clarity & Futures" that's an album to remember for ever. The whole group was like "bruh we gots to me all songs be memorable and the guitar riffing must be top notch guys. Even if it takes us years to learn this we gotta make this album be considered one of our best project of all times" thats how artist operate. Last example. New Found Glory, there best 2 great albums is "stick & stones and Coming Home" Those album are still played to this day just like Yellow cards "Ocean Avenue" that band really wanted to prove a point and they did. Best drumming in that era was found on yellow cards "ocean avenue"
Blink 182 is the best band ever!! I grew up listening to their music. I've had the chance to see them 3 times in concert. I'm so glad I went before Tom left the band. Despite their ups & downs I'll always be a fan. Til the end of time. Blink 182 forever!!!
@@mattjwatson5089 ya... bass is a little quiet, but not bad overall. I actually wish they didnt mix em at all and you got the actual audio of the live performance.
these guys will always have an important ass place in my heart. they're the band that got me into music. the first time I heard the I was 6 and it was all the small things. so me hearing that they broke up, I cried so hard XD
+PaintingHerPoison welp, they are actually still together, about to release another album....it wont be quite the same because Matt Skiba (alkaline trio) is in tom's spot, but i think its gonna be dope so don't sleep on it......
I grew up on Good Charlotte first time I heard them I was like 5 or 6 didn't know I was listening to a pop punk band so when I actually starred getting into bands (13) they weren't a band anymore but they just recently got back together And I'm so excited.
Around this time is when Tim started really experimenting with his voice, and changing it, becoming the Tom we know today! It was so wild back then to hear his vocal difference between take off your pants and jacket, to self titled! I love Tom’s voice now baby prior to self titled! I don’t know why!
i always loved the color scheme they used on this album that also coincided with their clothes. It wasn't a coincidence it was a theme and it was awesome.
I will always love this band so, so much. There just isn't any other music like this - legitimately, this is only band to make punk rock/pop music this different, yet amazing. Getting my Blink Bunny tattoo in a couple weeks after 6 years of procrastination. Fuck yes.
Hahaha I remember the aol free trail disks hahaha trying to access internet in 2001 hahaha what a trip and stealing blink 182 CDs good times as well as streaking
Meilenium Tongue Cross Hey I've been listen to Neck Deep and I love them! They are great! They don't replace Blink 182 but they are very similar!! Thanks for introducing me to them!!
Six bottles went down the drain One hour's a waste of time I'd ask if you feel the same Still pushin' that chance to try Your breath in this cool room chill Long hair that blows side to side You speak and make time stand still And each time you walk right on by? Like violence You have me Forever and after Like violence You kill me Forever and after Can't count all the eyes that stare Can't count all the things they see She kills with no life to spare Just victims are left to bleed One drink and the pain goes down Soft shadows lay by her feet Lay soft as you slowly drown Lay still as you fall asleep (Fall asleep) Like violence You have me Forever and after Like violence You kill me Forever and after (And after, and after, and after) Like violence You have me Forever and after Like violence (Like violence) You kill me Like violence [Inaudible] You have me [Inaudible] Forever and after [Inaudible] Like violence (Like violence) You kill me Like violence You have me Like violence (Violence, violence) Like violence You have me Forever and after Like violence You kill me Forever and after Like violence You have me Forever and after Like violence You kill me Forever and after
If you don't think this is good (for Blink) then you sure don't know Blink. They've always been like this live. It's a part of their charm, at least to me anyway. I mean yeah they've had better shows, but this is the standard Blink, crappy punk rock.
Danny Adams 100% agreed, Tom has even openly said the music was just a reason to get on stage and goof off and fuck around. This is one of there better live versions of "Violence"
