This partnership gave me hope. But when Sanga fell at the wrong time, defeat was almost certain and the moment Jayasuriya was bowled by Clarke, I turned off the TV and sadly went to bed 😭😭😭 - Love from India 🇮🇳

Was there in person for this World Cup Final. While the Aussies and Gilchrist had an amazing innings, Sri Lanka was ahead on the run rate just before the rains hit. Unfortunately for Sri Lanka, the officials continued play in the rain instead of suspending play and covering up the pitch. By the time they finally stopped play due to rain, Sangakkara had gotten out and the pitch was soaking wet. So when they resumed from the rain stoppage, it was no surprise to see the wickets fall. The ball that Jayasuriya fell victim to barely bounced (skidded along the pitch before hitting the wickets). One never knows how it would have turned out had the rains, the bad light and poor officiating not interfered with play.
