By rule, you always eplace the piece on the board before hitting the clock... if you hit the clock first without promoting like he did here it's an automatic loss.

Very nice camera angle, easy to follow the action. I'm seeing these pro matches where you can't tell where the pieces are.
@oseggene
@oseggene 7 лет назад
Well, I would have preferred the camera angle from the opposite side of the board, so the players' available times would be visible. And, while we're at it, though it has nothing to do with the camera, let's position the starting positions of the pieces, so the correct algebraic notation is shown. That might not matter for the players, but it can - and, in this case, already did - confuse us kibitzers analyzing the game after-the-fact.

Exactly. These online kibitzers are just sooo clever when they see someone else play. People should learn chess etiquette and not criticize chess players for making mistakes, even for blunders. Especially when it's a timed blitz game. Chess players should know this!

Fun to watch... brought back some old memories. There were a number of missed opportunities on both sides. White missed: (3:59) or (4:17) Bxe5 (winning the pawn, if fxe5, then Qxf8+) (4:40) Nxe5 (similar idea); and the biggest miss was (5:53) Rxf8+ (if Kxf8, then Bxc5+ forking the K and R (on a3).

@shaurz Bishops can move as far as they want diagonally, Knights they can move in an L shape, no diagonal moves, 2 moves ithe same direction, then left or right. They can also move once left or right, then 2 moves in the same direction. The Rooks can move as far as they want in 1 direction, no diagonal. The queen moves any direction, diagonal, straight or sideways as far as she can. King moves only 1 block any direction. Pawns 2 moves on first move, then only 1 straight. Attack diagonal only.

Can't believe white didn't win this ... at 7:22 instead of c6, simple h4+ wins easily (e.g. ... Kh5, Kh3 f5 (only move), exf5 gxf5 and after R8d6 black can just resign) - a computer may even find a forced mate in like 15-20 moves. Although c6 is still winning even R8d3 should be preferred, still the rook + bishop vs rook ending can be painful if you don't know your endings...

08:13 Rh7 would be a winning move if white continues to push pawns. This would lead to a discovery check after black pushes pawn which turns it into a promotion and checking the white king at the same time. This leads to black gaining a whole rook!

41. Bb4+ Bfe+ would have been better, he could check again Rxge when Black plays Kg6. That also defends the g2 pawn. Ke6 leads to checkmate. 48. Rd6 Blows the game by giving Black a fork winning the bishop. White was aiming for where the black rook currently is, not for where it's going to be. 52. . Kd3 Black gives White a king and rook skewer, Rg3+, which would have won the rook outright. 53. Rxh6 White fails to take the hanging rook with Rg3+. After this point the computer says it's a draw.
@Zureiyaa

Yes, and if someone is confused with the coordinates, it's actually Rb6+ according to the board's coordinates (they're upside down). However, in reality it's Rg3+ just like you said.

At 4:01 after black played c6, white missed a brilliant move, he could have taken pawn on d5 with the Knight and would be attacking the rook on b6 and also a discovered attack on queen from bishop the next move. Black cannot take the knight with the pawn if he does then Queen takes bishop on C1 and check. .
@elrondes1
@elrondes1 12 лет назад
In that case it's a draw: Ra6, Rxd2+ Kxd2, g5 Kf2!, h7 Ra8, then if g6 then Rh8, Kh3 Kf3, Kh4 Kf4, Kh5 Kf5, then if Kh6, then Ra8! (g7 Ra6+, Kh5 Ra1!, Kh4 Kf4= ) or (Kg7 Ra7+) with a draw. Objectively the position should be drawn, but in time trouble I doubt White would find this drawing line

Your right its a draw but I think the black moves that maintain a draw are much harder than whites. Whites moves are much simpler than blacks In a blitz game I think black would be the one who most likely messes up by not finding the drawing combination(kf2! ra8! ra1! for example)

You are right. I was mistaken for the pawn to be on g3 rather than on g4. However, the position after h6 at 8:20, black can try for ...Ra6!, and then, any rook move off the 6th rank will lose the h pawn, if he plays Rxa6, then d1Q with a win (or perpetual at least). If Rxd2+, then Kxd2 followed by Rh6+. Let me know if I'm mistaken.
@Shadowboost
@Shadowboost 9 лет назад
Particularly elegant finish at 7:18 would have been the simple h4+ Kh5 followed by Kh3! This seals the advantage. Black has to play particularly accurately, and still will be down significant advantage. He would have to respond with f5.
