Exactly. And nothing is perfect. You and I both know you can pick anything apart. But as a whole with the figures, you're just not gonna find anything better.
Simply AMAZING! Museum-quality piece right there. Thanks for showing. Who would have thought we would be getting such incredible, high-quality collectibles from a 30-year-old movie. Outstanding!
For $2000 the seams in the plastic on the bumper and those red decals on the rear fins you pointed out are absolute deal breakers. For that kind of money there shouldn't be any flaws, especially not ones that are so amateur hour as those are.
1300 sideshow on a payment plan . I guess you missed out lol.. it’s a great piece ... you want one now 2300 to 2600 good luck.. you can mod the lights and siren if your picky very simple
A remarkable piece of work. It's simply amazing that something like this can be made. I wanted to buy this but price and space kept me from moving ahead.
The 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Hearse wheelbase was 160 inches. That taken down to 1:6 scale comes out to 26.66 inches. The Blitzway 1:6 Ecto-1 is 28.12 inches. It is lager than it should be.
Wow! Beautiful piece. The 1:6 vehicles released are usually not true 1:6 scale which is why this looks "too big." If you search Sideshow's history, a 1:6 diorama was done with the Falcon in the Death Star docking bay. It really puts things in perspective.
Hi @@HorrorMonsterCollectibles :), I am working for Eaglemoss and I love what you are doing. Just wanted to reach out to see if you were interested in linking up for a sponsorship. Thank you Amina
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles no mine should be coming in soon. But I'm a little weary of it. The doors and the rotating lights are a bit of an issue. But at the same time it looks so dam good.
I wonder how hard it would be to open up the rotating light assemblies and just offset the rotors a little bit so they don't all rotate completely in unison like that... It would add some more realism/authenticity.
Great review from a hardcore Ghostbusters fan they forgot the siren swich box that would be above the rear view mirror other then that its looks great just like the real thing also the siren and GB song should have been added in Thank you for playing the GB theme song in the back round not many youtubers do that while reviewing this car hopefully i can save up and add this to my collection.
In the first movie the headlight did not flash on purpose the wiring was faulty and during filming it would go on and off. And when the car leaves the firehouse it just happened to be acting up thats why you see it come on when the car turns after leaving the firehouse and goes by the camera. Back then movies let a lot of glitches happen and not go back and reshoot because they didn’t have the budget like they do today and there where no post cgi to correct anything.
Holy sheeeeeeet!!!!! Now that’s a fantastic piece! So detailed. It’s HUGE. My question. Where are you going to display it? Are you in your new house yet? Are the Ghostbuster figures Hot Toys? Again, spectacular.
It would be cool to have a large scale version of Ecto-1. Good review, you pointed out the negatives which I agree could have been designed out better, and the positives are correct as well. I think for most people that do buy this, are not going to be pushing it around the floor, so a power adapter rather than batteries would be my choice.
No, this is 1:6 scale, so it would be 2 times the scale size. Also, this has been sold out for quite some time and it goes from anywhere between $3,000-$5,000.
For the amount of money they want for this thing, I am not impressed. Fingerprints, paint splatter, decals used to take the place of paint, incorrect headlight functions. It seems like a half assed rush job to be honest. With that, the concept is cool, but it falls really, really short.
the real wiring looks like shit too. They could have at least tried to make some of it look like the car's proper headlight wires, and then the strobes could be made to look like Ray added them in, which he did.
It's very close. I measured out the wheelbase and width between this and the actual 1959 Caddy and it was slightly larger. If I remember right, Blitzway said they made it slightly bigger to make it easier to fit the figures inside. But just by looking at it you can't really tell. And if I remember correctly, the figures were not all 100% exactly 1:6 scale.
6:15 - You are correct, the high-beams never flashed. Also, the turn signal bulbs were white, not amber. Technically only 2 of those 4 lights at the bottom were ever turn signals, the other two were fog lights. I own a '59 Caddy replica Ecto. On my car I decided that "screen accurate" or not, I wanted 4 x amber turn signals like you would expect, so I altered my car. Ever since then ( about 2010 ) I've seen comics, toys, t-shirts etc that feature those 4 lights as amber. I feel partially to blame. Those lights were all white, and the headlights never flashed. 9:59 - This misconception could be my bad too. I put LED lights on the round-reflective rings of my Ecto so now I see it appearing as canon in other media. A normal '59 Caddy wouldn't have those.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles Open your wallet, shake it upside down, observe as there's nothing left to fall out. Welcome to owning an Ecto, your training is complete.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles i converted a barbie car into an ecto for my ghostbusters custom 12 inch figure. Looks decent bur this one is a work of art.
the front 2 lights did strobe. They are aircraft landing strobes, they are not synced. But you can see them flash when the Ecto first leaves the station.
Browsed whole internet but couldn't find any place where i can get one!! Have to say its so gorgeous!! By the way does the crew figures avail with ecto??
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles yes. I pre ordered it a year ago and have just received the first 2 issues. Eaglemoss is great. I'm also a year into the Back to the future delorean. Also 1:8 scale. Over 81 LED bulbs. You really need to get them. Deagostini also is a great company. I'm building the 1:2 scale R2D2 working replica. They also have the X Wing and a massive 1:1 scale millennium Falcon replica of the original model used for filming. All of these including the ECTO 1 are around the same price of about $2500. Up to about $3000 with modifications. Theres also a company called Hatchett that has a 1:4 scale Terminator Endoskeleton
So the siren noise isn’t there by default? The instructions say it does. They had the siren in the original promo. So how does that work? God you would hope it could mask the motor.
I'm one of the few that actually like that move (in the mindset that it's its own thing), but no, I wouldn't get one even if they made one which I don't know of any that are being made.
Great video, really nicely done. I'm still on the fence about getting it. So close to nabbing one. Trouble is I know once they hit the secondary market down the track, the price is going to be even more insane.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles I can't really give you a reason why, I just do. Don't get me wrong, I love both cars, but I guess I just like how much more the 1A has. The company slogan and phone number on the sides, more roof equipment, more flashing lights, and those big electric signs. It was over the top, which made it absolutely ridiculous, but also beautiful at night with all those lights running.
i think you could mod this to be just right. at least this is what i would do if i could pick one up second hand. for the front flashing lights you could take the wire coming off of the non flashing front lights and wire the flashing ones to those. for the bumper molding you could take off the bumper. sand down the part and respray it to a chrome you would like and same to match the others. could peel off the vinyl sticker and then paint that with the same red. for the rotating light noise perhaps there is a way to make it silent depending on how the rotating mechanism is working (i presume a load of cogs which are making the noise) perhaps a rubber band system could be modded just need to see how its all working inside to see if its possible. but i think if you had the siren sound file play when you press the button it would make the rotating sound less prominent. thanks for uploading this. i bought the hot toys delorean a few years back and was really disappointed with that i may sell that to get this. but i cant get this without the ghostbusters! so am left looking at them on youtube instead haha
great review. u should check out Hot Toys 1/6 vehicles. weathering and better paint would make it look less like an oversized plastic kids toy. that said i can't wait for mine
As a lightbar enthusiast, Id say the noise from the rotators on this model is pretty accurate, on the real deal(police cars and such), they arent exactly quiet. I am quite amazed at the detail they put into the lightbars and hope to see scale modeling catch up with this in smaller scales(1:18, 1:24)
Nice piece! I actually like the fact that it uses a micro SD card, that way there'd be a way to adjust the sound to our liking (and maybe even splice-in quotes from the characters from the movies) However, the price... man 2K is steep for something that has all those flaws. I'm sure all those flaws are easy to mod out, but at that price makes it too difficult for anyone to want to attempt it without feeling as if they're damaging it.
Headlights never flashed. Like wise with headlights on park lights should never be on. They also shouldnt be amber but warm white. The strobes also flash in groups when they should alternate.
@@ghaleon128 they are. I dont know why I said that, the one that isnt supposed to flash is the blue spotlight. That light we never seen illuminated so it's probably was done to spice things up but I dont believe that would have flashed. Just like the headlight wigwag, the wigwag didnt come about till later on in the 90s.
Fucking love this 😍😍😍😍😍😍 new sub & I’ll be hunting around your channel! The interior shots are fabulous! I’m watching on my tv & trust me, the small screen you’re using does wonders! I’m highly impressed with the dets of car. I’d play with this all the time 🥰🥰🥰🥰. I’m surprised they didn’t make RGB’s Ecto-1 that would’ve been cool too! I have that one as a hot wheels.
Hi. My question to you is how do I find a 1/16 scale like the one you have. I have one from EAGLEMOSS and it was $3,000 new. One order part at a time. They won't serll the whole item at one time. Also please get back to me. Thank you.
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles Ok, thank you. I'll try to find one out there some place. I'de also like to find Adam West and Burt Ward Ford Batmobile in that scale as well. Man would'nt that be nice.....but again thank you.
The inner headlights shouldn't flash. The scale is right for the figures. The spinning lights is accurate to the scene where Ecto-1 comes out of the firehouse for the first time but that shot is accelerated. The regular scenes at the end of the movie has the lights spin much slower. For the price I would be scared to modify it but at the same time I would like to do a custom paint job and weathering just to make it look more realistic. I would remove the red vinyl and redo all the red paint. I would also sand down that bumper seem and redo all the chrome. Some airbrushed rust under the car and a bit of dirt in the bottom of the doors.
All great ideas. I may end up trying to tackle some of that (at least remove the vinyl and airbrush it red). When I have time...which I never have. lol
@@HorrorMonsterCollectibles I hate when we have those amazing collectibles that have tiny details that are just off. I ended up buying a cheap airbrush on ebay just to repaint my Hot Toys robocop. It was too silver for my liking. I used navy blue translucent paint and took the figure apart. taped every part that wasn't silver and shot a fine mist with the airbrush. Now he look exactly like he does in my mind when I picture Robocop. The mods I end up doing the most often is fixing decisions that were made for light up features. A Terminator endosqueleton look great when the eyes are lit up but it look dead when they are off. I can't leave the eyes on all the time. Solution: tiny little circle of red vinyl tape sticking in the eyes. Now he always look alive.
