Nothing like a winter storm to keep you busy and alert. I always like driving in a snow storm for the challenge and it keeps me alert. Storing milk for an extra period shouldn't be a problem with all the cold around - a storm shutting down transport in summer would be something you would not want.

I was stationed in Minot in the mid 80s. One storm it was so cold and blowing snow that our service truck temp went down as we we're driving. It got so bad that we had to stop at a cat site to spend the night. The next day the front gate was drifted over with 14 ft of snow and the only vehicle on the site that would start with a John Deere lawn tractor. Used it to start truck then the front end loader to move the snow. Pulled out truck from drift and had to bring in heated shop because the oil froze and was oozing out. I do not miss that.😁 Now my brother drives a milk tanker picks up milk from dairy farms like yours but in Michigan Indiana Illinois and Ohio and we got a lovely blizzard starting at 4:00 today it's supposed to last us until Saturday and then we're going to have lake effect snow for Sunday to Monday so almost 2 ft.

"This sucks" lol,thats and under statement,I'm in Wisconsin back in the 1970s our milk truck was stuck about a half mile from our farm,I went out opened the road to get him in to pickup our milk, then we went back out to plow the road to get himout, we couldn't see the road so he got stuck several times,finally we gave up,the driver spent the night at our house,the good news we then had plenty of room for milk,the next morning the storm was over the road was plowed and he went on his way, we did this with a 60 hp two wheel drive tractor with no cab back then " that sucked"lol
@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047
I shouldn't complain, we are lucky to have equipment with heat, lights and a radio!

Ya we got the same 4 day snow storm! It was a massive storm pulling its water source from the Gulf of Mexico! Unreal! Sorry I didn’t catch why you had to set the alarm on your milk silo? Great video like always Piet! You like the 942 Fendt with that bidirectional drive? Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year to You Piet and all your Family!!
@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047
The milk trucks were unable to return to load at the normal scheduled time, so we had to continue filling the milk silo until they were able to make it back to the farm. We want to keep our small tank empty as long as possible so we can unload and wash the silo while we milk into the small tank. It improves the visibility of the blade. It takes a little getting used to, but I like it. Merry Christmas!

Are you driving that tractor backwards
@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047
The seat and steering wheel spin around, the can face the front or back of the tractor. Having the blade on the back with the seat spun around gives good visibility of the blade.

Hi Piet impressive snowstorms over us last dec22.. how much snow you have normally at your farm’and how long is the winter period with snow a normal year ? Great videos thks
@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047
Around 50 inches per year is normal I think. We'll start to get temperatures below freezing in October and winter will last to the end of March roughly.

Does ure tractor seat swivel all the around so u can drive backwards
@dhenschel4
@dhenschel4 Год назад
The Fendt has the plow on the rear hitch so any time he had the plow on the seat was turned around driving in reverse. At 9:43 you can see they have weights on the front hitch so I guess can't run the plow on the front hitch due to lack of steering control in snow.
@johnhatt1219
@johnhatt1219 Год назад
@@dhenschel4 i could have assumed that but if you assumed everything then why even ask i was being thoughtful because not everyone has a chance to experience it
