I would even argue that the gambling mechanics in games now have become far more predatory than actual gambling. At least with real gambling you still have a very clear concept of how much money your spending/losing. Almost every game that uses some form of digital currency, not to mention the common practice of forcing you to buy in fixed sizes, is intentionally obfuscating real money value. There are very intentional mind tricks going on when $10 = 1300 + 150 bonus credits!! and other such schemes are going on, meant to completely detach the player from the concept of value. It's simple math pretty much everybody can do, and yet its so effective at coaxing players to burn through it and buy more. Really, we do need to have regulation on this on a mass scale, for exactly the same reasons as gambling has such regulations.

great summary of events to date and tight editting, you got my sub! One thing that might be worth mentioning is that blizz didn't just jump in the deep end with immortal. They'd already tried it earlier with the real money auction house in diablo 3 taking a cut of each trade, terribly compromising the whole design of the game(as well as requiring always online for a primarily solo game), that was one of the early signs of their integrity starting to fall apart :/

I play pay to win games as F2P untill they get borring. Currently burning out of Diablo immortal about a week in.

Pay $500,000 ($10 or so per competitive match win) on Overwatch 2 for top 500. Each team will have at least one bot, person who pays has their bot try hard while the enemy bot throws.

I couldn't agree more on this PTW mechanics bulls, but the fact of the matter is, buying a computer to an 8 year old and leaving him/her there unsupervised even playing free games , is a plane ticket to a F'ed up future for that kid, what can i say about grown ass men & women who waste hours and hours looking at a monitor, not even earning a living doing that, but somehow they have a house, internet, electricity, and barely enough to eat and pay the bills, but yet they can't let go of this PC/Meta false universe. I know I wasted years playing games, having a job that involved the internet, how can u resist, but i was mostly playing and not working. Anyway i digress ...
