@@Duvli the only thing I've read was that there was "an incident" where "someone was doing coke and someone else didn't like it." I don't think anyone was an addict. If anything, I bet Matt was the one who was upset about the drugs.
@@Duvli Copying and pasting what a user summarized on r/blocparty from Matt’s interview on The Noughties Podcast: “He said he found it extremely difficult to drum the way he did. When they took a break in 2009-2012, he tried to play some of Silent Alarm on drums and really struggled. He said when they met up in 2010 at Russell's house, he was already planning on telling them that he was quitting, but didn't want to make a scene and the conversation led to them discussing how well Foals were doing (random) and they sounded similar to them. They discussed Matt just recording the album and figuring out a replacement when touring came, but by that point he decided he might as well tour it. Eventually it really weighed down on his mental health and there was a lot of psychological baggage that made it difficult for them to focus on a task collectively, which lead him to quit when he did. He says they didn't openly discuss how they were coping with the band in terms of mental health, and he reflects that he doesn't know if discussing it would have led to a different outcome of that iteration of the band. He also mentioned he's so grateful for his time in the band and that he is able to pretty much live off the royalties of his contributions to the band. He still talks to Gordon fairly regularly and is close friends. He met up with Russell a few years ago in New York and they occasionally talk, but there is sometimes a bit of awkwardness with the fact that he is still in BP. He hasn't spoken to Kele since he quit, but any bad blood that existed around the time of quitting has since evaporated, and if they bumped into each other in the street he would have a pint with him and hope he feels the same way.”
I believe that is just hte style of the band in general is to have all instruments be very present in each song. Listening to their music now older I realize just how revolutionary they were.
This song got me into music. I picked up the guitar, bass and drums because of this band. Now studying audio engineering and writing my own music there's a lot to thank for this band :)
+Sean “SmokeyJoe” Pears Silent Alarm will give you plenty to start with...then,.....the rest of it. :) Bloc party has an amazing discography. Enjoy your musical adventure.
This song, "Take me out" by Franz Ferdinand, "Fell in love with a girl" by the White Stripes and "Supermassive Black Hole" by Muse are *definitely* my favorite (semi-) Indie Rocks songs of the 2000s. All of them have incredible craftsmanship.
Mine was digsys diner, from cigarettes and alcohol. Never got into audio engineering, but got very close to it at leeds college. Sadly a youth spent on heroin kinda throws a spanner in the works, y'know? 😂 Ahh well, experiences trump achievements... (At least that's how I console my wasted genius.)
Not only is this a killer song, musically, but this song's message is as relevant now as it was then. Don't let the media and those in power brainwash you into hating your fellow human beings!
Brutus Bongo they also mention 911. It's about being manipulated into hunting for witches so to speak. How we all have been painted a portrait of a certain enemy among us. There's more to the song than just that incident
I can't believe this doesn't have more views it is by far the best song they have produced to date. and that godly riff is enough to make angels cry :,)
My history teacher first introduced me to Bloc Party when I was still in middle school. I automatically think of him whenever I hear this band. Such a cool guy and even cooler band. Truly some of the best music of my generation. So underrated. Thank you Mr. Crowfoot!
This Lyrics work on both sides of politics. Liberals who get brainwashed into thinking there's a miltia of white supremacists or the naive conservative who thinks he's getting replaced by immigrants lol.
they are IMMENSE live - Kele is HUGE now, too.. when I saw them at Reading I was blown away. really really amazing stage presence, with the skill to back it up!
It’s refreshing to see that someone understands the lyrics. Some are referring to themselves as fools without even knowing, which I suppose should be expected from fools 😅
Best band in Britain during their time glad I got to see them a few times. Always loved their lyrics, rhythm and style. Kind of timeless songs in a way.
+007Fusiion ya dude the closest thing to some thing like this or like silent alarm (bc weekend in the city didnt have anymore songs like this on it), was four and that came out 4 years ago
@@doomsdaydanceparty7646 wait, so the album Four came out four years ago at your time, and now this comment is four years old, so that means that Four is eight years old, which is the double of four. Bro.
The beginning of the video gets me so hyped for what's to come, and then when the song is over it fades away showing the representation of sticking inside the enclosed circle we all put ourselves in when we try to keep out of the world around us...
I want this on guitar hero live ): this is literally my favorite song, I've love Bloc party even since they were underground and barely called indie at the time. miss them a lot. great guys.
Can't believe I am taking my daughter and friend to see Paramore. Which is great considering they have been putting out music over twenty years. But I found out BLOC PARTY is touring with them is such sweet icing on the cake. I am so excited to not only introduce them to my daughter but see them live all at once. Only 3 more days!!!
2024 and just saw them in Belfast. I can testify they are still utterly bewitching. SUCH a vital band who refuse to be constrained by the ideas of "indie guitar" music.
For those british men and women who were victimized by this recent terror attacks, I hope all of you were okay. God bless everyone of you and stay strong. ~ Love, Philippines
This vid is actually really artistic, the camera points are brilliant, and how the director chose to have no climax at all is for this song genious. For instance take a good look at the first shots of Kele and Matt/drumkit.
i saw this live finally last weekend this very time in KL, Future Music. Mindblowing how those 4 guys create the same accuracy, sound and tones live. excellent live band too like i'd hoped all these years. falling more in love with four now! it's brilliant. typical bloc party catchy genius.
Akihito Da Grandaddy of Japan You can't steal the idea of music. Jayden Jackson And no shit it's because of his race, he doesn't have to be a fucking clone of him to be LIKE him.
