Hi Jessica. I made a few blocks yesterday and did NOT press as I went. I just did your style of finger pressing and wow! I was surprised how much more accurate my blocks were. I also enjoy the way you edit your videos so they aren’t super long…but all the information is there.
Yes, it's actually easier to match blocks up if they haven't been pressed hard and flat. You have more leeway to help them fit together. I wish everyone knew this. And pressing with steam will actually distort your blocks.
@@jessica_dayon One question. I have trouble doing chain piecing of half square triangles because my needle will push the fabric down and get stuck. I’ve changed to a new needle but it still happens…any ideas to avoid that? Thanks!
What kind of needle plate are you using? My machine has the option to have a 9mm plate and also a straight stitch plate. When I'm piecing, I always use the straight stitch plate because it only has a small hole where the needle goes down into the machine instead of a large opening. I never have an issue with fabric being pulled down when I'm using the straight stitch plate.
