Have you considered that Ghosty could have meant to do the bass out of tune? It's rare in Hip-Hop, but purposeful dissonance between elements that are usually consonant is a thing. Given how many people hear it from production to recording to mixing to mastering, it seems really unlikely that such an obvious mistake would make it all the way to release. Just a thought, you're probably right.

I personally dont see the problem in the 808s but I know nothing about music theory so that's probably why. As for "too devilish" I disagree, the devil bars are the main selling point of this song and it goes well with the murderer image that drill artists try to paint themselves with. Maybe it's just my love for the underground US scene and their devil talk

Dylan M basically in drill you have to keep the 808s in the same key as the melody so for example if your melody is in c minor your 808s should also be in c minor. It’s a rule and it’s very noticeable especially when you produce (I just do it as a hobby).

I think the tune was generally mad, they were talking some evil shit. I feel like it was all meant to sound dark and rough, and so it didn't resonate with you personally: I got what they were saying and their flow but it was just a little too evil for me. Great review anyway.
