Nice looking wall. Structural engineer here. Good to see the horizontal rebar every other course and you filled the wall with concrete. Looked like you will have soil on both sides basically at the same elevation, but no vertical reinforcement tied into the footing? Definitely need some for next time.

For the top of the wall corners when switching to 6” block, do you just stuff in a 2” web piece to make up for the difference when matching an 8” course below? I can’t find 6” return corner blocks anywhere. Would just use 8” in the corner to stay on bond but then the slab doesn’t have a ledge there.

Hi. I read in comments somewhere it was for 30x30 garage. How many blocks in total did you use?

I can’t remember what the measurements were. If It was 30x30 it was about 530 block

All those blocks in a single day?! Fkin get it Do you guys pour the footing? Wondering how leveling goes without a form Also, can you explain the purpose of the narrower block on top? Is it so slab can rest on part of the block wall?

Thanks!!! No we didn't It's easy, use a beeper transit and just rake it. You have to communicate really good with the truck driver so you know how much to pour at once. Takes 2 guys and you check every 2 feet. I can it youlking it, just shaking it and pushing the rake to level it. Concrete is like water so if you push it and shake it, it will level itself out. It goes from an 8in block to a 6in block so the concrete floor sets on the ledge. I call it the floor ledge. So that does is tie the wall to the floor and doesn't allow any settling to occur

Use a big block. It usually happens with the framers. You need a 4in ledge on the out side of building

Hey where do you buy your Durawall ? In my area we gotta take 10 gauge galvanized wire mesh and cut out our own strips . I’d like to buy some but Lowe’s not Home Depot have it to buy at all . Not in stores, online nothing .

We get it from our local block plant. They deliver the block right to our job, ask them for durawall and they bring it. I'm not sure where they get it

curious as to why the concrete footing was left so low meaning all that blockwork below ground?

It has to be below the frost level so it won't move the building

Frost line .....freezing ice jacks up anything....imagine what would happen if under the footing kept freezing and thawing

Those are some nice footing. Back in the day when they would excavator they wood dig center with an 18inch bucket so u could even stand in the trench and make it horrible on you to save backfill. It's why i went out and bought a few excavator and said screw u guys.

I love the space. I've had some bad footers like that. Just enough space to shuffle your feet sideways, kicking all the block you just laid hahahaha. I love when there's a lot of extra space like this

I want an excavator too. I hate showing up to dig that they don't know anything about block. They always mess it up. I would rather do it myself

@@masonthemason6412 Its why we did it. And I wont lie keep it up 15 a block is amazing. My area they still do it for beer so I sit on my excavator or just do repair work. I will not lay for 5 dollars a block. People here do if for 3 it's a disgrace.

I charge 15 bucks a block every mason charges a bit different

If u can get a 100 a block go 4 it I do specifically brickpointing and waterproofing service but if I do a block or brick job its 15$ a block or whatever I can get off customer

Depends on who's digging the footer, who is pouring the foundation? Assuming you already hired all the prep out to someone else.How many courses does it need to be? What size block? Because that increases rebar and concrete grout to fill. On the small side at 2' tall with an 8" block your looking at a little over 400 block. That's roughly 4.5 yards of grout plus rebar cost. The low end your looking at the low end I'd say 6500 . having masons dig footers and pour your more around 10 or 11 k

The footer was about 4 foot down into the ground. It was 8 inches thick and 3 feet wide. We used 8in block. It was either 40 or 48 in tall. It stick out of the ground one course of block. It was a 30' x 30' garage

@@cheshstyles yes you are right. It was backfilled on both sides there's no way it's gonna move. And there's a concrete floor on top. We didn't have a print so this worked

The rebar has to be into the footing wall. If drilled needs to be epoxied, also the the block has to be concrete not lightweight

Typical c class work ....to many courses on the corners in one day...only SUPPOSED to go up 3....no solid joints..but they did fill a few cells so well see

Where are you from? I’m Pennsylvania you have to be 48 inches below grade. So 8 in footer, 40in block. It was filled 4 ft on center. Backfilled both sides. Inspectors always compliment how good the work is
