Between Block Ice, Ice Cubes & Ice Packs, which lasts the longest? We test the same weight of each in identical coolers. Full Ice Challenge Review here: www.coolersons...
In this test we weighed out 15 lbs of tap water to make two big blocks of ice. Each ice block weighed roughly 7.5 lbs. Next we weighed out 15 lbs of cubed ice. The bag of ice cubes came from Publix Grocery, but we placed the bag in our deep freezer several days before we began this test so that the ice cubes would be exposed to the same -5°F as the block ice and ice packs. Lastly we used three Engel 32° Phase Change Ice Packs each weighing roughly 5 pounds (3 X 5 =15lbs of ice packs).
Inside of each cooler, we used a Wifi thermometer to give us temperature and humidity data points which we ultimately plot out to show the TRUE difference between block, cubed and ice packs.
