One thing I have used is aluminum foil. Take a sheet abt 1 foot square and roll up your cell phone so that you have several layers. I tested it by turning on my google location settings and then driving by several cell towers. My second test was to get the IP address of my cell phone and then from a desktop computer ran a ping test while wrapping the phone in aluminum foil. It totally killed the pinging to the cell phone.

This reminds me of when i worked for a paging company 25 years ago. The sales people would ask me to go into customers who had doubts about the VHF radio paging coverage. I would turn up with a tin box of biscuits, hand them around the meeting then seal my pager into the tin. I'd ask them to dial my pager and watch their jaws drop when it went off inside the biscuit tin! Of course i had previously measured that the tin attenuated the signal by 40 dB and checked the signal outside before I went into the meeting. We kept a lot of customers with that demo. 73, Chris G4HYG

If you were trying to test whether or not the bag blocks the phone’s ability to receive GPS, your Find My Friends test doesn’t really show that. What you are seeing with your Find My Friends test is the phone is not updating the service with its position. I would guess that the bag does block GPS, but you need to see if the phone is getting a GPS lock while in the bag to verify that. One possible way you could do that by opening a GPS app on the phone, connect a display cable to the phone, hook up some form of an external display, and then stick the phone in the bag with the cable running out.
@KM4ACK

I would propose that a shielded video connector cable may act as a decent antenna. I would suggest driving while using the phone as guidance with the volume at maximum... surely the bag isn't soundproof, right? Google Maps will preserve its map data on the device when internet is lost, so long as you don't deviate from the route.

What does it do to the battery life of the phone? I know one of the locations i worked had no cell service and my phone would constantly search for signal killing the battery. I would be interested to see if it blocks NFC so i could put my wallet in the bag for travel. I hate having an NFC card.
@KM4ACK
@KM4ACK 3 года назад
I didn't test NFC so I can't say. For phone battery life, I would turn the phone off before putting it in the bag. This would also eliminate potential for overheating. I only left it on so I could show the test results.

@KM4ACK
@KM4ACK 3 года назад
Airplane mode is a software solution. We have no way of proving 100% certain it can't be disabled remotely and therefore re-enabling the radios. I miss the days of being able to remove the battery. Until a phone is released that has hardware switches for each radio in the phone, I like the RF blocking bag better than relying on a software solution. Thanks for leaving the comment. Jason, why not just turn the device off and turn it back on when needed? Great info, though.
@KM4ACK
@KM4ACK 3 года назад
Because we really don't have an off switch on modern phones. The "power off" is a software switch and we can't remove the battery from most phones these days. Without a hardware on/off switch or removing the battery, there is no guarantee the phone is actually off to the point that it is impossible to turn it back on remotely or have apps still listening/tracking in the background.
@iNowHateAtSigns
@iNowHateAtSigns 3 года назад
You say "most phones," which may be true. If you focus on cheap smartphones, however, I think you'll find many can still have the battery removed. As the phone losses it's cellular connection it will automatically boost power to search for a tower. I would love to see how long it takes for the battery to do insure that bag compared to outside, if you would consider doing such a test. 73, AC9TW

Copper wire mesh over 100 preferably 200 mesh does the trick. You can solder the seams and have a flap. Stick that in a mylar bag and your good to go. If worried about EMP just have an alligator clip to ground. You can also cut the mesh and form into a round and solder that to metal can lids to seal them against RF. So far none of the commercial gimmicks I have found to be effective and they wear out quickly under use.

I'm not sure on this product, if a HT can receive on it, then an EMP would kill the device in there too i think. Just turn on aeroplane mode, that should stop every wireless communication. I however don't know if that also applies to Apple products but I expect it would be the same. I think it would be good to protect passports, credit cards and access cards etc. I have a travel shielded wallet but never tried an actual test on it though.

All you have shown is that the cell phone is unable to transmit data out of the bag. Nothing in this demonstration shows that the signals are bocked sufficiently to prevent the phone receiving GPS data, storing it, and then transmitting once removed.

Correct. This was pointed out earlier and more testing is needed for the GPS. I expect it to block GPS as well though since GPS is the weakest of the signals compared to cellular & wifi.

I do not know who is Remote Neural Monitoring me or who is remote neural manipulating me and I don't know why they are doing so and I also don't know why members of the Irish government has not put a stop to it because it is a highly illegal act. At approximately 4.50 am on Sunday morning, 14th May, 2023 the muscles of my bowel were manipulated to move against my will by means of Remote Neural Manipulation. Various muscles in my body are often manipulated to move against my will because remote muscle movement is one of the capabilities of Remote Neural Manipulation. What is the legal name and the current legal address and the current location and the current occupation of the individual or individuals who caused the muscles of my bowel to move by remote means on this aforementioned occasion. A few minutes later, at fifteen minutes past five a placed this information on line only to be answered by a voice to skull direct communication message which said the following "I can't accept this". My response to that message is what is the legal name, permanent legal address, current location and current occupation of the individual who said "I can't accept this" and why can you not accept it. My name is Grtta Fahey and my postal address is Newbrook, Claremorris, Co. Mayo, Eircode F12 Y560, Republic of Ireland. I have published my name and address here because a crime is being carried out against me and I am asking for the names of all those who are carrying it out and I am also asking for the names of all of those who organised to have this crime carried out against me.
