This has a design flaw. The tutbine shouldn't be so high. He is wasting most of the potential energy. He raised the water level, just to place the turbine at the top. If he wanted this, he didn't even have to bother building the damm!
Literally no point in building the dam when the turbine is at the top. Might as well just turn it on it's side and make a water wheel. The whole point of a dam is to build up potential energy from the depth of the water. Putting the turbine at the top completely defeats this.
Well the damn is necessary to raise the water level high enough to even lay the turbine on its side ... from such a small stream it wouldn't do anything to the turbine even laying on its side..(I agree the water level doesn't have to be so high if you run the turbine sideways, but it still needs to deeper then it is naturally hence the reason for the dam
It also needs a certain depth to have enough force to turn the turbine fast enough to generate that much voltage...doing it on its side with lower water levels may not have enough force to spin the turbine fast enough
Forgive my ignorance, but how did you dam the water to build the dam in the first place? Is it going under the flat cement. You are also a bit of a poet, romantic. You built that delightful little fence on top of the dam. Haha, a true artist.
First of all, nice work and super video! But Im not sure I get this, shouldnt the turbine be placed in the lower part of that tube i order to generate maximum pressure / power? i mean to get the maximum fall height of the water.
Oh I get it. This is already a secondary cut-off from your primary diversion. You can do this in the USA. If have a legal diversion, you can do whatever you want to with it. My uncle told me something like that years ago. He owns Apricot and Avocado orchards. 👍🏼
I have a very favorable stream for that setup. But what about when it rains and the creek rises dramatically? I would envision the damn and troughs as you have it, But everything else needs to be on a float, to rise and fall with the water level?
There's not enough resources for everyone to have an individual means of power generation and it is terribly inefficient. People would be killing each other to charge their cellphones. You can't even be responsible for your own trash. Who are you kidding?

It's a cool concept but an asshole move for others. Not only ppl that live near by but the ecosystem suffers... Stick with earth fresh and friendly nuke plants.. always one guy messing it up for everyone... Damn

Such freedoms to do such an amazing project on your own property is a gift. Similar freedoms are not available to most Americans for doing anything similar on their own properties.
I think the pipe fits into the bottom pipe like a connection (like conne ting two pieces of pvc pipe with one end having a slightly bigger end so the other pipe connects to it
In 2003 i stood on a bridge and watched a raging flood shred a huge oak tree under a bridge I see what you are trying to do but a flood would wipe it out
You are not free in USA when comes about building and doing many thing in "your properties" You need permit for almost everything. Fishing, swimming, hunting you are free in some situations and confine in many others ..
Nice build, but it won't last, the walls of the dam should be embedded way further into the sides. So if you build something like this, make it more sturdy for an extra $10 or so.
I'm sure he is aware...He just did this for the video... its not like he is going to use an outlet to run lights or a fan or whatever where it is... He knows what he is doing...if it was something permanent that he was building for actual necessity all he would have to do is put some of the wire fencing into the cement in the walls of it (like he did on the bridge top) to support the walls from collapsing and it would be permanent. He just did this as a RU-vid content project.
you can build many, you can build these for people. runs tv fridge fan lamp. With yeti cooler you done. [with gas oven and gas hot water heater, Yay. ]
Fascinating to watch! Yet I’m with the other commenter Bendaski who questioned the lack of 😮footings. Engineering such a small project like this, you can take certain liberties. With such a short video, I must question how well the dam will hold up. Essentially you’re using the hard compacted dirt to support the bricks & cement work. A Geological Engineer once pointed to hard, clay like soil like this and told me as long as it’s dry, it will act like concrete - but when it gets wet with the rain, it soaks up the moisture and then it’s prone to “cleaving” away in chunks. You’ve demonstrated fantastic work, but how long will it last? Another note: I love how you incorporated a spillway that would also act as a pathway if you have any migrating aquatic life!
gran construccion!! un detalle para la maqueta...todos los desagues de agua han de ir sumergidos , son turbinas de aspiración! funcionan por reaccion y succión y no sólo por gravedad! pero el diseño y acabado es precioso great construction!! a detail for the model...all the water drains must be submerged, they are suction turbines! They work by reaction and suction and not just by gravity! but the design and finish is beautiful

Generation? Check Transmission? (?) Distribution? (?) - unless, of course, you'll live beside the dam! Interesting, all the same, even if you chose to hide from viewers how you set up the electrical (as opposed to the manual/physical) aspects of the mini power plant...
For those watching this and thinking of doing it in the Philippines, I strongly suggest checking with the water resources board. I could be mistaken, but I think in the Philippines, we're required to secure the proper permits from the Water Resources Board before doing something like this. Otherwise, we could be charged in court.
wonderful job but you need to place the outflow further away from the dam so the undercurrent wont wash the dirt away from the dam. Use large rock to prevent washout.
Would you be able to build a dam like the Apartadura dam here in my area of Portugal? It has a "U" shaped surface discharge followed by a ramp below for the water to drain. also has a bottom flush
@@Tran-Chien so what can I do so I can be part of your team, am so much in love with construction work and development I just need be part of your team sir
