Initially, when the video started I saw all the garbage. I did not expect him to clean it up, when he did, he won me over; more than he already had. What an incredible being. Thank you for what you do.
Made me think! My first thought was "Big deal, everyone unstops ditches and cleans up trash". Then I thought, nope, guess not! I guess there are 2 types of people, those who build and clean things and those who dirty and destroy things. It's sad to think about.
@@Bob_AdkinsЕсть в Русском языке выражение "Чисто не там где убирают мусор, а там где не мусорят" К сожалению вы правы. Тех кто ломает и мусорит больше. Нам не хватает таких парней, которые очищают планету.
I feel somewhat lucky to just see nice places with someone doing something fun while explaining stuff about nature and wild life. That's some pretty priviledged thing
Hell, we used to build dams on our stream and see how high we could get it. Eventually it would be to much to keep up with. I had a Mark Twain, Huck Finn childhood.
My wife says, what are you watching? I respond watching this guy dig out blocked drains, she asks WHY, I reply because it is strangely fascinating and this guy is doing a great service for his community. Top man, keep it up. Now she gets it.
Great video, you're such a positive influence on your community. The world could use a lot more people like you. Thanks for sharing and spending your spare time cleaning up after inconsiderate people. You're an inspiration to us all!
You’re an example to all. You care for the environment, the animals, knowledgeable about plants, dynamics in nature. If only a few more percent of humans would be more like you, the problems in the world would be less. Take care, be safe with all the needles in the trash!
Everyone is saying that we need more people like post cleaning the environment, but you see you can be like him too. Be the change you want to see in the world.
I started a clean up community in my city (: The biggest issue is from garbage flying out of trucks on the roadways. People mostly litter without realizing it.
This man is a perfect example of a productive member of his community. Just imagine if people took 1 day or even half a day to do something to help make things better. I'm proud of this guy.
Because I pay taxes for people to do this that work for the city, county or state. Im sure as fuck not doing this and potentially getting in trouble with the epa or state.
Out of that half of people, how many would be dead because they don’t know what they’re getting into and the safety risks with rushing water and concealed flooded areas.
@@shamusosullivan5650 well being that not everyone needs to do water related things to benefit there community the death rate of doing good deeds won’t be nearly as high as you expect.
I've lived and worked in the San Francisco area for the last 40 years. I worked for at&t in the city for most of it. There was this one alley in the Tenderloin that had a phone wire box at the very end of the alley. The problem was, there was a carpet of hypodermic needles covering the pavement between the buildings. Walking on them was only half of the danger, having an uncovered needle fall on you from being thrown from the window above was, to me, the bigger risk. I always wore a hard hat (and very thick leather soled boots, pole climbing boots) in that alley. And for the most part, the majority of the needles on the ground had the caps on the needles but there were some that didn't have a cover. They could have been thrown that way or hit something on the way down, knocking the cap off. But having gone down that alley many times I never recall a needle being thrown while I was in the alley. To this day I remember the crunching sound of walking on all those syringes.
That's the scariest fucking thing I've ever read, holy shit. Just terrifying and upsetting on so many levels. The sheer abandon to throw a used needle out the window where it could hurt someone is unfathomable to me.
@@BrianM_3rd Yeah, drug addicts aren't known for their caution. But by law I always had the option to not go where I felt I was in danger. So it was always my choice. But if I refused to go into every area that I could be in danger, nothing would ever get fixed.
@@Maxid1 There are things I could say about the people in charge of places like San Fran, but the gist of it is that they seem content to just let things rot so long as it serves the lifestyles of the people who vote for them. I don't feel bad about the people who seem to want things to be that way; I feel bad for people like you, who literally make their lives possible, who have to wade through their morass to do the good, solid work that has to be done.
You truly are a good person, not only for clearing the water but for cleaning up the side of the road as well. No one was expecting you to clean up and you did anyway even though it was unpleasant. So thank you for making this a better place.
This is how I felt at my maintenance job in a well known warehouse. "Look at all this trash and we need to be careful because there are poops, probably human." "What is that? A big bag of poop?" Yes people like to share their poop with the rest of public even around grocery food. PSA: Don't share your poops. No one asked for it.
People are indescribably nasty, once when participating in a local litter clean up drive (probably on earth day, it was years ago) my mom and i found a used daiper in a park fixed grill. I never intended to use one before but i absolutely refuse to use one now.
At least we can safely say that behavior isn't new though. Inscriptions found in ancient Roman ruins advised people not to _pollute_ the water, meaning it happened regularly enough to warrant a written warning.
Post, your “can do” attitude is inspiring! The world would be a better place if we had a lot more people like you. Thank you for the work that you do and another great video.
I have deep felt disdain for people who throw their trash to the roadside, especially when its the bank of a river because all of that plastic may end up being flushed downstream and eventually into the ocean where it adds to the plastification - and it also ends up in the food chain with us at the end of it. On the flip side I have deep respect for everybody who picks trash up as they see it. Unfortunately, the asshats outnumber the good people...
I love when you post a video, because you feel so genuinely interested in the infrastructure and environment. I really believe you do this hard work because you care and find it satisfying. I keep you in my mind as living proof that people will work and do good things just because they can make things better for their community, not necessarily for purely personal benefit.
When you’re sliding into home and your pants begin to foam…. I love your videos for so many reasons…many of which are already reflected in prior posts. I also love these as totally unintentional asmr…the water sounds…you’re a gift to the environment and all of us who follow you. Thank you so much!
My late husband was a US Forester all of his working career. We spent a lot of time in the willywags of VT.NH, and ME, fishing, canoeing, snowshoeing and camping. We always carried a box of rolled trash bags in his truck and a bag or two in his backpack. When we were out and about and saw trash others had left we would gather it up in a trash bag and dispose of it properly. It is a practice of good stewardship by those who love the outdoors and love to see it clean and trash free. He would always shake his head because of the laziness of others whenever he saw their trash, cans and bottles in "his" outdoors. I want to thank you in your efforts to clean up the areas that you visit by picking up the garbage that you find. As you said, be careful because of needles and fecal waste, and always wear disposable gloves. Peace to you.
In the description, this wonderful person clarifies that he is trained in culvert inspection, so he seems to be the perfect guy for the job 👍 BUT, as for the trash cleanup, any one of us can take initiative (with proper safety equipment) to make a difference and clean up trash in our communities 😇💚 Thanks culvert man!
Good job man. When I was a kid, my mom and I would do similar things. We would open up places that had standing water by digging a trench for the water to follow. We always managed to find a water source for it to flow into.
I appreciate your videos on clearing the culverts, but to see you picking up the garbage- I truly appreciate you even more! Amen to the job you do. You are appreciated 💛
You are a shining star Post10....your work in the communities is invaluable....these are jobs that need done....just a pity that some people discard rubbish in the countryside spoiling the area...respect....🏴
I'm very impressed with what you did and cleaning up people's trash. Can't believe people do that... I never throw thrash out... goes home with me, or in the trash bin. Thank you for cleaning up. 👍👍
Love it, Post. So soothing to listen to you wax philosophical and perform a civic duty. I have a question though- are you taking classes in video editing? Your production quality keeps going up and up.
I am similar to post 10, I do have my own channel(s) too, and I do edit videos myself, and I as well learned how to do it myself. I have used videopad video editor for all my editing needs for practically since I started filming probably around 2015/2016 ish.
@@planningpersonlaidbackdeep1273 welcome. I think what I liked about videopad video editor at the time is that when I initially downloaded it, it really didn't hound me to get a license, or if it did, it didn't have a watermark on the finished product video clip like other video editors had or do when I was searching around for a video editor at the time. I forget the exact reason why I've stuck with videopad since 2015/2016 or so, but, although there have been a few times the software has crashed, but, outside of the stray crash or so, it really hasn't been too bad.
I bet you are right about the trash bag of poop. When I was a teenager, I worked at one of those Maine turnpike gas stations. Truckers tossing trash bags of their turds into our dumpsters was pretty much a daily thing.
Man, you talking about how the clog worked and the iron oxidizing bacteria almost made me feel like you were destroying a habitat when you grabbed the shovel 😅🤣
These types of videos scratch a certain itch in my brain and I can’t wait until spring when all the meltwater creates little streams everywhere. Thank you for picking up the trash as well, every little thing helps.
While watching the first part of the video I thought "I wonder if he'll attempt to pick up the few beer cans before he leaves." And then at the end when I saw the enormous amount of trash, I was so grateful to see that you picked up as much as you did. I just don't understand how people can be so disgusting. Thank you for all that you do!! I'm new to your videos but am thoroughly enjoying each and every one!
Hello Posty, great video! I've never seen mud like this before. intense orange color . cool new pants! You're getting more and more stylish! not important but great side effect. 👍😍
There are 1000s like this all round the UK, successive governments kept making massive cuts backs in spending, the knock on effect was council stopped maintenance of culverts, floodways and ditches ect, end result to much of this neglect is flooding in many areas, the sad part is most of this flooding would not take place if the maintenance was reinstated, this guys gets it and is doing a good job for his area even though most people there would not even notice.
Talk about someone worthy of their Patreon. Some people throw bags of poop into the world, others clean bags of poop from the world. You sir have my respect.
Had to pause the video and comment a big thank you for cleaning out the clogged culvert and cleaning up all of that garbage! People can be absolutely disgusting! It looks like there is a need for a rest stop in that area though, maybe drop a suggestion with the local government? That would be cool if it worked!
great video as always Post10!... a tip about discovered needles, you can use any hard plastic container labeled for needle disposal and you can drop them off at any needle exchange program for further safe disposal.
The police department showed up to to go all the way, back in 2020 when nobody was taking them or would allow you inside to get rid of them they said just put them in a hard container like a coffee can and throw them out
Serious question: Are there any legal implications to all this amazing work you do? Can you get in trouble for doing something DOT is likely contracted to do, or risking any environmental changes/regulations about draining flooded areas etc.
I think I heard him say in one video that it could be unless it involves a roadway. Meaning if you were trying to save a roadway it was okay. Not really sure if he’s right
In other videos he has had interaction with road crews and law enforcement and has be interviewed by his local news agency. I feel like he’s appreciated in his community.
Dude you are the guru here. But some of that orange may be clay or red sandstone. We have a lot of that stuff here in the uk . Keep doing what you’re doing. I have no clue why its always so fascinating. 🤘🏻
New England and New York soil is almost exclusively grey. Dirt color is primarily a result of your local rock type since dirt is just made of tiny rocks. But for some reason all sand has that light brown color. (And transparent quartz crystals)
I never thought I could be riveted by someone shovelling orange mud. Thank you for your videos, you care about the beavers, who are so industrious engineers and you care about the environment. I am glad I stumbled on your videos.
You are such a professional @post10. I'm always impressed with your knowledge and willingness to get out there and help the environment. I hope you take extra precautions to protect yourself from the bacteria and possibly diseased trash. You really should consider becoming an instructor at your local college.🧐😎👍
Great job unblocking the culvert, but I'm really impressed that you took the time to clean up the rubbish that inconsiderate idiots mindlessly threw away. God bless you.
We have disgusting sick people who don’t care about what they do or where they throw their junk. Then we have wonderful caring helpful people like you. Our planet would probably live longer if we have more people like you in future generations, and not the other kind. The other kind we can live without.
Man this job looks so much more fun than mine. Get to be in the outdoors and get instant gratification. Takes me weeks to feel like I accomplished something lol
Me and my family would clean up the trash on the road near us every Easter weekend through 4-H I'm always happy to see people actually caring about the trash in the ditches
Hey Post I got a question for you, do you get noticed when you're out and about shopping/etc? I enjoy your videos, very fun to watch and always good to learn something every time you upload!
@@post.10 hey post 10 Just noticed this guy on RU-vid has a couple of your videos posted in his video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yQaPBS3yoSc.html
Love the work u do its great to c someone looking after the environment PLEASE be careful picking up them needles after the dirt bags that left them there
I love it, what the I'm pretty familiar with the shovel, many many hours of my life spent behind one. I can't say I always considered it very much fun. The joy I have gotten watching this man eagerly have fun doing a job in spite of the thankless and laborious nature of the work, is immeasurable. This has given me a whole new perspective on work and life. Thank you.
