Hey Gavin, I'm no expert, matter of fact I wouldn't trust me to do anything dealing with plumbing. You might even call me an idiot when dealing with these sorts of things. But, I think there might be some roots causing the problems. Again, I'm no expert though LOL. Keep up the awesome vids man!

Surprised you got as far as you did. That cheap corrugated pipe sucks for this type of drain. They should of used pvc pipe, which is what needs to be done.

Slow and steady usually wins the race against a drain full of nasty roots. This one was really buggered up! Needs digging up and replacement with solid drain lines. Did your best Gav in getting things working for now.

I'm in the states and I will never forget working at a major restaurant chain in Georgia. Main sewer line blocked. Our establishment was the lowest in elevation of 1 square mile of a developed area. The manhole was higher than our floor in elevation. There were like 20 other developments above us. Big motels restaurants stores. Main line blocked sewer we were 1 hour wait to get sat on a Friday night and we all of a sudden began flooding up through the floor drains. Within 10 minutes water had us flooded a foot deep and we had to immediately close make everyone leave. Everything from the businesses above us was all coming back up on us like a river. It ruined the whole night and the establishment lost like 300,000 dollars in sales. It was a mess and Awful. They had to call in a restoration crew and everyone got off. This was Not storm water but raw sewage oh it was Nasty. I will never forget a blocked drain NIGHTMARE again.

@penetratorblockeddrains we tried turning roots into a drinking game in previous videos, taking a swig each tune you called out roots. We almost died, ded. If we tried it with this video alcohol poisoning would happen

I'm only a few minutes in, but as soon as I saw those flagstones buckled, I _knew_ there were some serious root problems.

I have a 275 gallon septic tank (USA) and I only need to have it emptied every 5 years because I'm the only person living in my house. I just had it done last summer and now I'm good until 2027. Of course I don't have tree roots, etc. in the way of my pipe to tank and I never put anything in toilets except toilet paper, never grease down my sinks and my plumber told me years ago all that's needed is running hot water down my drains for about 5 minutes a day to keep pipes clean and running free. I never could figure out why people plant trees and gardens where they know they grow big, and so close to pipes.

I wonder if that single barrel should have a sharp edge between the barrel and connection point to help cut the roots that get caught

More of my favourite (not) corrugated pipe. It may be cheaper than pvc but the maintenance sure isn't. Have to comment on your wonderfully neat truck. Everything in it's place. Not at all like Drain Addict's!!! LOL

Wow, what a slog! That customer's yard is more root than yard. I wonder how much all those roots weigh in the end. I live where palms can't, and I am always shocked by how they spread! Also, I know I'm ignorant about Australia, but I am constantly surprised by the distinct lack of snakes and spiders I see in your videos (I mean, pleasantly surprised but surprised nonetheless!)

Drainage is usually shallow, isn't it? I've done a complete sewer line, I was too poor to have it done, old pipe was tar paper pipe. House was on blocks so the line was shallow until you got near the main. Put in back to back Y joints for easy clean out.

thats the issue, planting shrubs/trees close to weeping tiles and sewer lines, the roots will search them out and destroy them
