As far as I know, this cleaning connection is a purely English story, we don't have that kind of thing here ... So I would have approached it differently, namely from the next manhole in the direction to the blockage with a standard 4 to the rear 1 to the front 1/4 "nozzle. Don't get me wrong. Of course, I have front nozzles too just other ones... But I think it is a siphon right? so I probably had to work from the same side as Drain Master.... who knows...
The manhole is called an interceptor. The lower hole has a U trap and works like any trap to block sewer gases. The upper hole allows for clean out in case blockage is beyond the trap. This hole normally has a threaded cap when manhole is cleared.
