Hi Tony, i knew the tea was a 10/10 as soon as I saw it. Poor old guy, he needs help but you handled the situation the best you could. Hopefully the neighbours help him out. Love it when you throw the screwdrivers. They are mood indicators. Gently = good, aggressive when it's not so good, normally brought on by incessantly yapping dog's.

I think the neighbour was in the early stages of Alzheimer's - my father went through exactly the same thing and behaved in the same way. You would never have got through to him. I think it would have been better if his wife had come out to speak to you. People with this condition often are not aware they have it and are convinced you are in the wrong even when its obvious there is a problem. There wont be anything done about that stagnant cess pool until the client phones the council and reports the neighbour for having raw sewage running down the drive and refusing to do anything about it. Even then, the old guy wont hear of there being anything wrong. You did the right thing to walk away, and tell the client the problem, I'm sure they could well be aware their neighbour could be getting dementia, neighbours often are. They will have to take action on it themselves because they dont really want a stagnant stinking pool of sewage next door, especially once the weather gets hotter.
