Great video once again! I prefer a terminator librarian with quake bolts, unleash rage, and shield of sanguinor spell. He drops down with a unit of 10 sanguinary guard all with power fist. Shoots quake bolt at the unit you want to delete for the +1 to hit, casts rage and shield on sanguinary guard and just go to town.
Standard of sacrifice does not give out 5+ fnp to "units" within 6". It gives a 5+ fnp to "models" within 6". So it's useful but won't give multiple units a buff unless you cram every model in multiple squads inside of a 6" bubble. (Which is usually impossible)
Ah cheers, had missed that detail. That's quite a big negative actually, it'll make it impossible to hand out the buff unless he's also in combat... Thanks for the catch!
It works well with a single squad of SG either on the board or out of deepstrike. Especially if you take another character with the Icon of the Angel, or chaplain with +2 to charge, he is likely to stay with his SG.
@@auspextactics not impossible, you can always take the wounds on guy in the unit near the banner, even trailing back a couple to gain his buffs is well worth it
@@pascalroggen8364 True, but once those couple of guys near the banner die off then the rest of the sqd outside the 6" bubble is vulnerable and your down a couple of SG who never got to swing. Holding troops back in a fight stymies your damage output considerably in a 10 man or less sqd.(particularly if those models have a lot of potential attacks and you've gone through the trouble of buffing the whole sqd with a litany from a chaplain and maybe unleash rage from a librarian) so I guess it just depends on whether you want to play conservative or aggressive in a particular set of circumstances. Sometimes you need all those attacks to bring something big down.
As a blood angels player myself. I usually take one or more of the following, a smash lieutenant who’s my warlord artisan of war angels wing for my sanguinary guard as he has the same affect as the ancient and also procs heirs or azkaelion so they get all the rerolls for cheap. Lemartes with my death company as there is no reason not to, or a standard smash captain because he’s great. It’s a fool proof plan that works 100% of the time 70% of the time
Great analysis - thank you! With the sanguinor if you make him warlord with sanguinary guard you get the benefit of rerolling 1s and 2s to hit and also plus one attack. Basically also gets the Dante buff in melee for SG only which I think is decent.
Lemartes improves the odds of making an 8" charge from 42 to 66 percent. It's pointless to buff a unit that failed its charge so the importance of getting into combat can't be overstated. He himself is also more likely to make a charge so you won't need to conga line DC models to benefit from his auras which means more models will be able to fight. Sadly standard of sacrifice as well as SG's heir's of azkaellon ability are only applied to friendly models, not units which means they won't work with big units of SG or if the ancient/warlord fails his charge as you won't be able to keep all the models within 6" bubble. Inquisitor Hector Rex is an interesting choice in BA army, he can deep strike, cast terrify to deny overwatch, give enemy characters (IH dreadnought for example) -1 to hit as well as farm them for CP and lets your DC use his leadership for morale tests, which is another reason why Lemartes is so good that I forgot to mention. Also there's a wacky combo with brother Corbulo and quake bolts giving your units exploding hits on 5s and 6s which is a 33% buff on top of his +1S aura, you'll need to drop pod him though because he doesn't have a jet pack.
Some really good thoughts there, thanks for all that. Cheers for the SG clarification, didn't realise that at the time of making this. And yeah rex and lemartes are pretty epic!
Great video as always, question as a person who wants to get into the scene. Now with tactical marines getting 2 wounds and the buff to power sword and heavy bolters. Is the Blood Angels start collecting box worth buying now? Thanks
I'm planning on using the sanguinor in my GT list this weekend which relies on jacking up the amount of attacks that a single squad of SG powerfists can do, in combo with astorath and full reroll hits and exploding 6's it's absolutely insane the amount of punch they can have. I'm also considering chanting the +1 to wound in shooting litany for the sang guard to get the most out of their angelus boltguns in the tac phase. All of this require a lot of piloting skill and keeping stuff alive, which is what transhuman phys and the 5+++ does for me.
For sure a video on what you think 9th means for us Blood Angels. I'm new to the hobby but have been following the lore a while and decided to take the plunge. I dove deep right off the bat, spent somewhere around 1500 on models, around 700 on gw paints and good brushes, went ahead and got a decent airbrush setup, got a 3d printer to make terrain and tbh bits cause I'm not spending 40 bucks for a set of weapons. I didn't start the hobby til April of this year and had no idea 9th was coming anytime soon. I researched a month before i decided that i was a true son of Sanguinius, a combination of loving the lore and being a semi competitive person wanting something that can win, everything i'd heard here on the net said it was unlikely for another year or so considering how many psychic awakenings there were left. So imagine my aggravation when i found 9th was coming and my army that i had so painstakingly picked may be trash all the sudden. The real kick was the 400 bucks i spent building a custom table to play on. Guess what size i built it because i wanted to simulate itc gw tourneys so I was ready when i wanted to attend 6x4. I have probably went over board but I am a gamer since birth lol. I've played Mtg since 96 97 I wanna say ice age was on the shelves so I don't think i wont like the game i think ill love it and actually have thought about starting a youtube channel to help people get started because i had a rough time figuring it all out with no help since the rona had my FLGS closed. Your channel has been a godsend and i thank you very much for the content. I've never did a patreon but I'm gonna give you some monies least i can do for the trouble you saved me. My next buy is gonna be a 40w laser cutter for terrain the printer is just not big enough for it really. I really hope my boys will still be top half of the tier list come 9th it looks like we will be ok but not gonna lie I am very nervous. Search Results Web results
Good video. I've been using Astorath for a while so I was delighted with his buff in PA3. My friend reckons he's the best character in the game now. I haven't had any Death company for a while so I'd been using him in the core of my army and hoping for a good MoD but he belongs with DC now IMHO. I'm going to have him support 10 primaris DC and see how that goes.
He does have a ton going for him, not many characters can potentially do THREE massive CC buffs all at once whilst also having good movement and half-decent melee for 105pts :D
@@auspextactics The Problem with astorath´s Mass of Doom is that he has to chant it at the beginning of the turn and it takes effect immediately, unlike the aura-type litanies. I have been using him for the past year to buff a 15 man DC unit, and have never ever chanted the Mass of Doom. He is still a beast though
What do you think of a SG ancient with the standard of sacrifice vs him with icon of the angel when deep striking in with a SG unit? Obviously the fnp is great, but if he cannot get in to combat with them then they won't get that anyway, nor his other buff. My thinking is that getting units into melee, to buff etc, is more important than a fnp? Plus if you have multiple melee units deep striking in a turn (or just charging normally) it gives you more chance to get them all in, and without CP spent.
I’d only give him SOS if another buffing unit is available to take the icon of the angel, getting better charges is the best buff you can get, that’s the main reason to take lemartes with DC. I’d advise to also take SOS tho, it’s also very good, I like the sanguinary priest or a buffing librarian
I would like a video on what transport to use if you are gonna be a primaris army. As for as i can see we arent going to have a jump pack option for them still so i think a shooty transport to get them in there ans soften em on the way. I guess the only options are the Impulsor Repulsor and Executioner. I just got a executioner for that reason but i have regular marines as well if i need em.
Astorath's new data sheet in Blood of Baal includes the key word "Master of Sanctity", If this is an update and part of the Blood Angels being codex compliant. Astorath can chant 3 litanies a turn, re-roll any failed litany chant and has access to chapter relics such as the 3++. This makes him one of the best support characters in the imperium for his points
lemartes and astorath with 15 death company for wave 1 on the first turn with 10 sanguinary guard plus the sangunor and a sanguinary ancient with icon of the angel and a preist with quake bolts on his pistol now you get everything
I would add that if you have enough thunder hammers in the death company, it might make sense to rearrange things so SG go in with swords instead of fists, the Ancient gets the Standard of Sacrifice for staying power, and the Sanguinary Priest gets the Icon of the Angel instead.
How do we Sons of Sanguinius feel about the phobos librarian. I think he has concealed position so getting him up the board isn't to bad. I dont know how to feel about the psychic discipline he has. I can't remember what it's called off the top of my head obscurus or some such lol. I think it has a quasi warp if im not mistaken.
There are a few mistakes in your percentages. Dante's rerolls let you reroll 33% of hits, of which 66% then hit. So the actual increase of hits is 22%, not 33%.
If I can get access to their codex sometime soon I'd be keen to cover them. Might depend on DA and other psychic awakening things though, schedule wise
