This is one of those games that expect you to have played the previous ones. The lack of (good) tutorials and prompts is indicative of this...or just a development cycle that didn't account for new players.
I see some people still haven't figured out who's whose sister. Each bikini cowboy samurai girl has one goth lolita schoolgirl little sister. Geeze it's like people know nothing about Japanese culture.
Not even 5 minutes into the game, and Arin _already_ wonders what he's supposed to do during the tutorial fight. And honestly, given the bombardment of controls on the screen (3:33) ... I wouldn't blame him there.
They're not even sisters I don't think if I understood the intro xD. They're from rival families and each one of them has a missing sister? It's not that clear lmao.
Given Arin's perfromance in Fire Red, the run either ends prematurely or they eventually just get rid of the Nuzlocke rule set entirely. Unless Arin can be bothered to memorize type match-ups which seems unlikely.
Ditto. I like that he apologetically admitting he has no idea what is going on or what he is doing. I've missed that with all the 'must not disappoint the fans'-tude.
@@Gamma0_0 It's information overload. It's not a good way to make you learn the control because you get everything thrown at you all at the same time and it just makes your brain tune it out.
To be entirely fair, D3 publishing was known for releasing compilations of games or games at a fraction of the regular retail price of games as part of a "discount" series. So they were often like cheap ripoffs of more popular franchises. I dunno if this one was sold for full price, but it definitely has that classic D3 tackiness
Even though he couldn't figure out which of the characters were actually sisters, Arin breathed a heavy Saaya of relief when 35-year-old Steve showed up and finally moved the plot of this formerly convoluted game forward.
I love that this came out during their Danganronpa 2 playthrough since Kagura shares a voice actress with Junko Enoshima from the first game (Her name is Amanda Celine Miller btw)
Okay so apparently, this is the 4th game in the series, and one of the only localized for Steam. So Dan and Arin's confusion over wth is going on is entirely justified if it wasn't already in the first second of the video.
The only thing I remember from lollipop chainsaw is having to put the controller down to go do something and due to joystick drift on my janky Xbox controller I came back to a new achievement.
@@NeoZhinzo Basically started in 2006 with the game Zombie Zone, this one the grumps played is technically the 6th entry in the series. It's basically started with the pink haired one hunting zombies and demons as there's two supernatural clans. Ones vampiric, the other demonic. The clans constantly battle with hilariously convoluted plots and fight hoards of monsters. Then the other clan had playable characters and eventually the four met Each cowgirl is a sister to one in a black dress. Pink hair is with the chainsaw girl Brown hair is with punch girl
HELL YES After this recently became backwards compatible again recently I was excited to jump back in but I never expected the grumps to play it. This is going to be a treat
The part about Dan admitting he watches movies his Grandma recommends and them talking about it after is the best and sweetest! Their own little movie club TwT
Yeah, I can't wait until we're in the middle of watching a Pokémon play through at the same time as a Dangonronpa play through... 2022 is gonna start off pretty nicely as far as this channel is concerned.
the first part is the hardest. Once the exp share gets out of control and your team start getting affection bonuses that never let them die the nuzlocke becomes braindead.
I should always wear my glasses when I browse the comments. I thought you wrote Pokemon bdsm and thought it would be concerning and exciting in a VERY different way.
Seeing this makes me wish Dan and Arin would play Lollipop Chainsaw. It's kinda like this but... slightly more restrained and coherent. Very, very slightly.
My brother attempted to do a nuzlocke of Shining Pearl, but stopped after a while because it was getting too difficult to get through the game. Knowing Fire Red is the only mainline Pokemon game they've played from beginning to end, I don't think it will last that long.
Listen, I consider myself something of a connesuier of these types of games, and I have to say, starting with an entry this deep in this particular series you guys basically jumped into the Marianas trench of deep ends with this
Knowing nothing about this game, I was ALSO very confused about which ones were actually sisters initially because the ones that AREN’T sisters are the ones with matching outfits???
The game doesn't hold your hand though. Most of the core mechanics for advanced players were never mentioned or it's briefly mentioned. You have to figure it out on your own, like COOL/team combinations.
You guys should play origin, I had so so much fun playing it, also I’m very very happy that you guys are playing one of my favorite games in the series, please please continue this series Aya and Saki are baneful blood sisters Saaya and Kagura are vampire sisters
Part of me is annoyed that Arin doesn’t know what’s going on and who is who But the other part of me also has no idea what’s going on, so I guess I can’t be that upset.
I feel like if anybody really devotes time into understanding this game, they really gotta like, go outside, find god, build social skills, literally do anything else.
Also, I remember there was a weird moment when the algorithm was suddenly recommending that video. I believe they mentioned it on a stream how everyone was getting it recommended and complaining there was no monetization
Kagura’s voice sounds so damn familiar. I know I’ve heard that voice before somewhere. Edit: Found it out. It’s Amanda Celine Miller, who also voices Toko and Junko from Danganronpa 1, which explains why her voice was so familiar
For anyone looking at this with reluctant curiosity, it actually is a good game wearing the skin of a trashbag. It's "We have DMC/Ninja Gaiden at home", but it does come close to meeting their standards, whether by design or accident.
That's a great pitch. I was expecting a janky mess from the bargain bin, but then I noticed the combat looks surprisingly smooth and snappy. And I'm not ashamed of campy japanese fanservice...
"ugh why does Arin skip the tutorial then complain about not knowing what to do?" Because reading that novel of a tutorial isn't gonna stick in his memory in its entirety, nor will it make for good content
Watching this in the background, immediate attention once they talk about doing a Nuzlocke. I'm hopeful they do well but I'm also very prepared for a very short series
Idk why but when the episode was ending with dan saying he didn't like sword slasher games the the metal gear rising song "The Only Thing I Know for Real" was playing loud in my head
Arin you’re really hyping up this BDSP nuzlocke, I’m really hoping you guys actually do it lol, no matter if it goes well or is a disaster I will love it
I once tried playing one of these games. And I was immediately like: “no thanks.” But I would love a full series of this insanity. And see Arin and Dan be flabbergasted along with all of us.
I know the whole stereotype of Arin not reading tutorials and all, but my gawd, those pages and blocks of texts of how to play are gawd damn awful. So I’ll give Arin a pass on this one
I knew I'd recognized Kagura's voice... Turns out her VA is (one of the two actresses playing) Junko Enoshima. I don't know anything about this character, but I love how extra those inflections are!
Kagura is voiced by Amanda C. Miller who also voices Junko and Toko in Danganronpa (the games only) and the current voice of Sailor Jupiter. Saki Is voiced by Chermi Leigh who also voices Lucy in Fairy Tail and is the current voice of Sailor Venus.
This game looks like the perfect turn-your-brain-off beat 'em up - non-graphic blood, vampires, and pretty girls... Except for the outfits. What on Earth is up with the bikini/cowboy hat combo? Just some cool battle tunics would be perfectly fine...
Onechanbara was one of the 2000 yen buidget series titles that was popular enough to spawn a mainstay series. which is whjy it feels like its from 2 decades ago.
If I had a nickel for every popular RU-vidr who did a video relating to Onechambara, I would have 3 nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened thrice.
