I discovered you because I have been thinking of looking for a channel that does some "PS1 era" reviews. I follow many channels who do N64 era (Glenn Plant), SNES (SnesDrunk), NES (CGQ+), or channels who focus on just overall gaming history in general; and on and on, but few really focus on the PS1 era more directly. So I'm giving you a shot! I have subscribed, for sure. Nice to find smaller, newer channels to check out. Good luck to your RU-vid success! I love the Kain series, though admittedly the only one I ever really played to my hearts content was Soul Reaver 2 on PS2- always found Blood Omen a bit too intense at the time (though if I could go back, I'd put a bit more energy into it) and kind of missed out on the original Soul Reaver 1. Great games and lore, though, definitely. Would love if you did a review of Return Fire for PS1 (maybe even for 3DO); it's an amazing game, tons of nostalgia for me. But, of course, the reviews and games you choose to review are entirely your call. My wife recently found me a greatest hits jewel case copy of Twisted Metal 1 for $39 CIB, but I wish she had found me a longbox original, though that one goes for JUST a bit more than $40 lmao. Anyway, sorry to ramble. Best of luck, sir!
Thank you! Yes I also love those channels (plus Pandemonium for Sega Saturn or Sega Lord X.) I'm always working on the next video in some capacity but I've been really busy lately so it's been slow going. Working on Alien Trilogy at the moment. I'm not familiar with Return Fire but since it's a long box I will definitely be picking it up at some point. Nice haul on the Twisted Metal, but yeah some of those long boxes are quite pricey now days.
You're thinking of the sequel, The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. In it you play, not as Kain but as Raziel (one of Kain's children), hundreds of years into the future of this game. While also an excellent game, Soul Reaver felt more like it was split into two parts than having a sequel. Soul Reaver 2 came out on the PS2 and picked the story back up at the exact moment that the original Soul Reaver ended.
@@damionmanuel7337 Right, that makes sense. I think I got them confused because Silicon Knights used a similar sudden ending trick as an insanity effect in Eternal Darkness, and I had always assumed that was a reference to their own game.
I would like to point out that the diagonal position in combat isn't a janky mistake. Not to my knowledge anyways. As far as I can tell it seems to be inspired by link to the past, which had a similar method of getting hits in without being struck yourself.
In highscool age i loved the legacy of kain series, hell i think it actually effected how i speak. Sad to say i dont think the gameplay of any except maybe defiance have aged well. The story and the cutscenes from soul reaver 2 have aged very well. The cutscene of raziel meeting kain at the pillars is one of the best.
Man I love legacy of Kain think I played every single game had the best story ever oh, I used want at least a HD remake of all the games. Unfortunately in today's world I would rather have the game go gracefully into the Shadows never to be touched by anybody mix games today. Cuz they would destroy the one thing that matters most the story.
@@flizzzipper I would be interested in watching that, just to let you know. I'm literally subscribing right now just in case your Soul Reaver video ever drops. This is a solid review. I can't think of a single thing you said I really found off or like you just didn't know how to play the game or something. Keep up the good work, I'll check out the rest of your videos, too.
I can understand that, not being able to just cycle through weapons or spells is frustrating. Then you literally have to sit through a loading screen to do it.
@flizzzipper on top of that pretty much every area you walked into added more loading screens. This game needs to be remade. Keep everything the same but get rid of the loading.
Play the PC version. The loading in the PS1 version is horrible, but the PC version it's barely a problem. You can reduce it further with a fan patch (by someone called Velrok, I believe) if you want to breeze through the game even faster.
