There is a retail version. Any pre-order after Jun 25 2019 is the retail edition. There is a 2nd print run for the retail edition planned this summer for October/November delivery.
I looked this up after seeing the retail price and now I understand why it costs soooooooooo much. They could have easily produced this for a tenth of the price by lowering the production quality. So much unnecessary beautification. But, I guess, they thought not many people would buy it anyway, as it's a big party game that requires a big group of dedicated friends. Having seen what the game entails and what the box contains, it's definitely a game that you could easily replicate by writing down roles on pieces of paper and handing them out. Then, as a GM, just keep track of the roles and effects on another piece of paper with a pen.
@@PecktecGames I'm sure it has a lot of content and honestly I'd have fun with it. i was interested in the game before I saw the price tag. But looking at what you get physically just doesn't justify that price tag. Some tokens, character sheets, and manuals. I can't imagine retail for something like what they're offering being more than $60 and that would be purely due to the extra nice felt lined box. Without that, this look like a $40 game. And that's too bad because I would imagine this pricepoint keeps a lot of people away. Thank you for the unboxing btw. And no I hadn't seen the $400 ebay listings. Geezus!
@@kensmith2829 Yeah I think a smart move for them would be to make a streamlined one shot or a two pack of Scenarios with a price point of around $20 - $40. If they hooked some folks on the game play it would be easier to pull the plug on this huge version.
I saw that Boardco RU-vid video also, he’s an idiot. You won’t play it ever again makes no sense, if you use your brain you can tell this game isn’t meant to be played in a huge loud room. Also idk how people play this game in person where you are not allowed to get up from your seat, that ruins the experience also. I’ve seen RU-vid games live where they have all 12 people sitting because they want to keep people in the room. But if I was demon, how can I converse with my minions, how can I tell them their 3 bluffs. Also btw at Comic Con NY 2022 this year it was the first time I played this game and I fell in love and ordered a copy right away. At Comic Con they had a separate room and we were allowed to get up and walk around, it was awesome.
He just had a bad experience and I think he brought that up. However I was delighted to find that folks are playing it all over here. I played it at a game store and had a decent time. I’ve never played a “werewolf” type game. Bluffing with a rules set is pretty fun. I think if your a social deduction fan it’s a get for sure. I’ll have a review up if I can get a few more plays.
