For Carmen, I think an underrated card would be Edgar Charmed Groom. He buffs your vampires including Carmen, increasing her power and opening more permanents to reanimate, and can be sacrificed himself to flip over and generate even more sacrifice fodder before flipping back over after three turns. And legions landing, when flipped, can be used as a mana dump for more fodder
The commanders ability doesn’t only work once per turn. For any vampire who attacks they become a demon and for everyone that’s been turned into a demon dies you create the 4/3 tokens
the ability says "whenever you attack, target attacking vampire". This doesn't say "whenever you attack with a creature, target attacking vampire". It triggers on declare of attacks, so you only get 1 trigger and 1 target each turn.
@@CommanderMechanic you’re right I was wrong. You can still pair it with teysa karlov and cards like anointed procession though to make it so you make 2-3 of them each turn though
Cataclysmic Gearhulk would be so insane in here giving Carmen so many counters and constantly bringing it back with Carmen would be disgusting, haha. I want to upgrade the precon as I am loving it with Carmen at the helm. But I love the precon for what it is and I like having unaltered precons for when a friends want to have a more casual game. Hard decisions.
I am still SOOO disappointed that Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow didn't tie into each other AT ALL!! Who was responsible for that!??!? Who is to blame!???!?
I got to say, while not a huge fan of diminishing the vampire sub-theme, I did enjoy watching the video and gave me lots of ideas. You guys never disappoint and got yourselves a new subskriber.
Roaming Throne is way overlooked IMO, especially for Carmen. It doubles both of her triggered abilities and becomes a vampire itself. On top of everything, the ward 2 makes it difficult to remove as Carmen grows bigger and you recur twice as much of your sacrifice fodder.
Needs more ruthless technomacer. Murder investigation is a permanent that nets double tokens on death for heirophant and cruel. Exalted convoke vamp guy let's us buff token generator = power right off the bat. Imagine all them juicy tokens exalting a single attacker and exploding into win con. This deck has so many avenues to deliciousness....
There is three cards I threw in my deck to further capitalize on Carman. Pitiless Plunderer- whenever a creature you control dies, you get treasure. With Carman, this is a two-for-one deal Liliana, Dreadhorde General- If a creature you control dies draw a card, -4 each player must sacrifice two creatures, and her ultimate will force all opponents to sacrifice most of their stuff. Tergrid, God of Fright- We have so many sacrificed things, why not fully invest in this engine and make it better. When your opponents sacrifice non-token perminents t that permiment will come to play under your control. You get off Liliana's ultimate and have this thing on the board, your opponents might as well scoop
Order of Sacred Dusk has been on my Cut-List at first look, but after testing the deck i have to say its a power house and won me two games alone. tap 8 creatures (absolutly no problem in this deck), play it for "free" and swing in for a brutal strike. Once I Played against another life gain deck. he had about 300 life. Rogue passage, this nice guy aaaand my commander came along for 26 dmg. Win!
Carmen is a sun titan as well. Nothing as satisfying as bringing annoying threads to your enemys back to game ^^. Nevertheless, i like Clavileno more as a commander.
Hi, thanks for the video, some good ideas here. It is important to mention that since Carmen effect works on permanents, lands that sacrifice are really valuable, especially with recursion. The classic fetch lands but also for the budget evolving wilds and other low tempo sac lands can easily give Carmen triggers and help you ramp if she brings them back (it's actually one of the easiest target to have in your graveyard early) Treasure tokens are working too, so cards like black market connection and other treasure tokens creators are good additions to the deck.
Its madness that Timothar was the FORTH card to be removed. Its top, its the first anyone that doesnt remove that card is crazy. It was awful in the previous precon. Its awful in this precon. Its an awful card. If going full sacrifice theme, why not add something like Tergrid? Surely a fantastic option in any deck that is focusing heavily on sacrifice themes. Things like Ascent of the Worthy could be really solid as fantastic recursion targets as well. Things like Wake the Dead would be fantastic as well. Bring back like 5 creatures when someone is attacking you to have blockers. Anything that lives? Sacrifice at the end step. Carmen is happy.
Focus on another strat, then! If you sac a fetch land, Carmen gets bigger! If you sac Lotus Bloom, Carmen gets a counter! You can build a self-sacrifice deck with treasures, clues, and food! And then use cards like Fleshbag Marauder, Cataclysmic Gearhulk, and Tragic Arrogance as you see fit! She literally doesn't care if it's a creature or not, or who is sacrificing it!
Late to the video but wouldnt the new 3mana braids be really good in this deck? Either force people to sac for 4life and 4counters on carmen or draw 3xtra every turn seems legit
If anybody is feeling extra rude I would recommend adding some of the balance effects in white. Such as, cataclysmic grarhulk, cataclysm, balancing act, and the best of all these cards would be tragic arrogance.
@@CommanderMechanic update: after adding a couple of the suggestions from the video I’m 4/5 (80% win rate) With Carmen in the CZ! She’s been temporarily sidelined lol so my pod doesn’t disown me
The face commander is better. This deck has so many ways to create vampire tokens, you can deliberately attack with them and now they become 4/3 flying demon tokens. You can have an entire army of them super fast. Pair this with cards that double the amount of tokens you create each time you make one, and cards like teysa karlov which makes all effects that are triggered by your creatures dying activate twice while also giving all your tokens vigilance and lifelink, and now you’ll have a shit ton of 4/4 demon tokens with flying, vigilance and lifelink at the same time. Add all this to the fact that there’s also a lot of cards in this deck that buffs all your vampires and/or give them plus 1/1 countess and you can have a massive army of big creatures super fast. There’s plenty of other ways to reanimate your cards or bring them back. Don’t need Carmen for that. Also a 5cmc commander isn’t great unless they’re really good. She’s good but her reanimate ability isn’t better than the face commander and it’s not worth the 5cmc cost.
Dusk Legion Zealot is repeatable draw and sac fodder when you consider the reanimation tilt you highlighted at the beginning. I'm going to have to disagree and I'd leave him in the deck.
No Sanguine Bond?! I'm not overly surprised since your leaning in on the sacrifice theme but even so it's a super cheap combo piece that completes an infinite combo in the deck that your commander can trigger.
I've been testing a High Power version of Carmen and let me tell you one word: Cataclysm. If you resolve that with Carmen on board you win. Its almost a combo kill.
