My. BEST musical group of all time since the 1970,s. Long live Blood Sweat and Tears. Forever. Start of the beginning of the end. The lyrics rhythm. Stay evergreen
Blood, Sweat & Tears is other of the great Bands together with Chicago, very very good musicians and goods singers!!!!, wonderful music. THANKS, GOD BLESS FOREVER !!!!. _/
Thank you so much for posting this! It brings back so many fond memories! It truly was a privilege to play with this select group of musicians. Guitarist, vocalist Larry DeBari is no longer with us and he is dearly missed by all who knew him. For the record, I would like to state here that my name is Neil Capolongo, ( not Neil Compalango as captioned here ) and it was my pleasure and privilege to play drums with this great band back in the 1990's! Thanks again.
I've always been a BS&T fan since my childhood (born in 63') so my young musical ears were quite spoiled as well as intrigued to say the least when their hits like spinning wheel came over the airwaves on the am radio in my mom's brand new ford maverick back in 69'. I usually prefer early live recordings of bands but I must say that this particular lineup in the band including you as their percussionist is one of the highest points if not the highest point in the band's very long history! This particular show seems to have brought out the best in everyone. Just fantastic performance from everyone!
Thanks so much L&R. You just made my day! It's so heartening to know that there are nice people like you who are appreciating what we did back in the day! Thanks again!
I saw you with this band in Topsfield Mass at the fair grounds. It was amazing to see this great music played by such high caliber musicians. Fillin the shoes of Bobby C is no easy task. Thanks for the great memories
Thanks again! For the record, the personnel here are Larry DeBari- guitar/vocal, Gary Foote-bass, Glen McClelland-keyboards, Neil Capolongo-drums, Jerry Sokolov-trumpet, Steve Guttman-trumpet, Chuck Fisher-tenor saxophone/flute, Charley Gordon-trombone and David Clayton-Thomas-vocal...
Notice his connection with his band and how fluid his communication is with them. Truly one of the great bands of jazz rock we we’re fortunate to have seen.
Thanks John Demarkis...Indeed, the awesome responsibility of respectfully filling Bobby's shoes was always on mind during my tenure with the band. ...so glad to have provided some "great memories"...Thanks so much for your generous remarks!!
The album that has "Spinning Wheel"... I have that in dbx version. For those not familiar with the process, the master tape is encoded in dbx Noise Reduction and stamped onto the vinyl. Then when the disc is played a dbx decoder like a model 224, you get the amazing pristine sound of the master tape. So clean and silent it rivals a CD. Technically, a dbx recording can out perform digital in the S/N ratio.
Don't forget it is not the original band !!! And it is not Golabek (Colomby) on drums here. Only David remained here from the second version of the band.
A whole bunch of somethings, but mainly it was the defection of Fred Lipsius and Dick Halligan who were the "iconic" iteration(s) arrangers. The Writing drew the Musicians with the chops but if the writing and arranging aren't there, then it's just another "gig" until another, better gig comes along. It's sad, and yes, the band IS an institution, but most of the Original and Classic players weren't just TIGHT, they were tighter than "tight". Putting it out there every night like Soloff and the original/classic band's horns did just isn't done anymore, except with the arguable exception of TOP. YMMV. I love the New/No band as well, but the concept was so different they probably should've just called the band by another name. After that, it began to feel like a "tribute" band. And that's no fault of the Musicians, who by that point were just hired guns...
@@Ricktpt1 Ok, it's quite sad, but time's running and everything changes with it ....well, I think, it's better to be seen it played by some "hired" guys than by none anymore, backing this iconic singer, isn't it? Thanks to RU-vid and the aficionado who postet it here....
Guitar solo in original "Go Down Gamblin' " by David Clayton Thomas was more musical than the rapid licks in this version by DeBari, which were only faintly carried melody. Quick licks are impressive for what they are when done well, but I for one don't find most of them melodic. Yet, terrific offering overall by the group and the one and only Mr. David Clayton Thomas !
What a sentence...! Bobby is history, a legend, ok, but this drummer here is a guy of the ninethies and he sounds like that. why not? - The musical material is great enough to be played by younger musicians, refreshing that what we have in our old souls and minds, call it "nostalgy"....
