This is a bug, she rarely says this while kneeling over the little gravestone where you access the hunters nightmare dlc lamps when she sometimes goes up there. You just got lucky and glitched at the same time.
Yep, I had it happen to me (but working as intended) and thought it was a cool little thing, only later did I find out that it’s a very rare occurrence so you got lucky there
She adds in that last line about a fond memory after you give her the hair comb from the other workshop and feels nostalgia for the first time. Great little detail
I got this line after finishing Eileen’s quest line and I straight up cried, thinking she died, cause the doll was knelt at the gravestone above the messenger shop
@@claudiopolonia7854 “a name” is accurate. Because if you dive into the JP dialog and notes you find that ANOTHER name for the Moon Presence is “Paleblood” Boom. Let that sink in. Also Vileblood isn’t a thing. Lots of lost in translation stuff obscuring the lore.
I had no idea this dialogue was supposed to be rare. I got it right after killing Rom on my first playthrough and thought it was normal. And somehow I also got Gehrman’s rare sleeping dialogue as well on my first playthrough.
@@jomoser3765 The exact line goes as follows: “Oh Laurence… Master Willem, somebody please help me. Unshackle me please, anybody. I’ve had enough of this dream. The night blocks all sight. Oh, somebody, please…(crying)” His crying voice clip is actually reused and slightly changed for the Orphan of Kos intro cutscene when it cries before the boss starts.
@@overlorddante she has a 10% chance of being at that grave, and while at the grave she has a 2% chance of saying the prayer. Which drops to 0% once you go into the dlc
In my case, she said this right before I was about to talk to Gharnam at the bottom of the tree in New Game….i hadn’t even been to Nightmare Frontier on my first playthrough
@@gronk2714 there's a few things. One, she is similar to the Maiden in Black from Demon's Souls who was, in fact, the most powerful Demon, that's why she could channel the power of souls to level you up. The Doll can do the same, she must require some Arcane power to do so. Two, she is not phased by the 'true' ending, were The Hunter becomes a Great One. This must mean she is on par or even stronger than them. Or, she, as is said of Great Ones, desired a child, which you basically become for her. Three, the colour of her blood. It's rather pale. Four, how does she exist? Nobody questions it but her existence is an anomalie. Some people say the Moon Presence created her but I don't see much evidence for that. Five, she has eyes inside her head.
@@insertnamehere001 I love your theory bro . I do have to say though about you’re reason #4 , the RU-vidr VaatiVidya explains in his video called “Bloodborne’s story explained” that the Moon presence created the doll for Gehrman , I highly recommend you watch that video if you haven’t cuz he reallyyyyy goes in to detail . 🤟🏿
@@insertnamehere001 her not being phased by us transforming into a great one means she's on par with one or stronger? That's a fucking gargantuan leap in logic there mate. (Apologies for the french) Why wouldn't the moon presence have made her? It made the dream in a mirror image of Gehrman's work shop. "She's similar to the maiden in black" So? She's not like patches or crestfallen warrior, where it's an exact retreat of that character. She has eyes in her head? As in eyes on the inside? Pls elaborate
She used to say this in my game, but it glitched and only shows the darkening of the screen where the text should be. She doesn’t speak and no text appears. It’s sad. 😔
thats the sleeping text. it will show a darkening like there is text but no words because she isnt speaking. this can happen while she's standing as a glitch as well.
I guess she didnt know you could grow powerfull enough to face Flora, but still, asking for you to leave the hunt and forget everything is asking for the worst possible ending.
It is the best possible ending, you leave Yharnam alive and healthy unlike when you got there. You didn't go insane, and you get to live your life. Either you become trapped in the dream or you become a great one if you refuse. I mean, the last ending could be the best depending on how you see it, but the game is all about how wanting to become a great one or having great one abilities is what leads to all the misfortune in Yharnam.
@@freshairkaboom8171 Yes, but everyone else did it wrong. Awakening from the dream is leaving things as they are, the hunters remain enslaved to the Moon Presence and the world keeps spiraling out of control into a lovecraftian nightmare. By defeating the Moon Presence, you release the hunters and become the first human to ascend. Note how the achievement mentions all of humanity reaching a new infancy. My personal interpretation is that the hunter becomes a benevolent old one, guiding humanity to take their own place in their stars by becoming old ones, no longer subject to their frail human minds nor the weakness of flesh and blood, they can face the cosmic truths, and perhaps even avenge all the horrors they endured because of the old one's whims. Its my own interpretation, as I already said, you could probably argue about the loss of humanity or the sacrifices of this ascension, but I just believe it is better to evolve and remove our shackles than live on in blissfull ignorance. However pleasant, a lie will remain a lie...
@@axios4702 benevolent Great One... That's an optimistic take if I've ever seen one. But I agree that's the best outcome for Humanity as a whole. Not for my hunter, though.
The great ones aren't particularly malevolent. It's what makes Bloodborne kind of interesting as a take on HPL stuff imo. It seems to be that the nightmarish stuff is caused by human ambition and perversity rather than the otherworldly forces being malign. I think one of the runes even mentions them being sympathetic to humanity.
@@overlorddante because she cares for you. And she "knows" that completing the Hunt and besting Gherman is only condemning yourself to enslavement by Flora. She doesn't know you're potentially preparing for communion and ascension through the cords. If she truly were evil, and you're considering becoming a Great One the good ending; Would she have carried you like she did in the end?
@@overlorddante I have no idea about what "extended credits" you're talking about. But if that were the case, I don't understand how you can label being freed from the Hunter's Nightmare "The Bad Ending" for yourself. For the City of Yharnam, yeah they'll still be fucked. But you are free.
@@overlorddante I doubt that exists since I can’t find it anywhere. However, even if it does exist, you can’t count cut content as canon. The doll literally says she loves the hunter. Not only that, but her wish is for the player to be freed from the dream and live on. If you kill Gehrman, you either become a slave to the moon presence or become a godlike monster. If you let Gehrman kill you, you’re at least able to escape Yharnam or at the very least live without knowing the horrible eldritch truth.
