Good unboxing, thank you. So overall, what I get from seeing your video is that the base pledge (full moon) was overall great, the add-ons is where the bad stuff happens. Still, not te quality we payed for. It was my first kickstarter backup but not very sure of doing more.

I have never played bloodborne and I have about 2 hours into darksouls and you could say the game is not for me, yet I backed this because I love the design of all the creatures as well as the intriguing card play/deck building. I'm painting them up right now and it's really making me want to give the video game another go.

Depends where you live but a lot of retailers specializes in board games had this game on pre-order for about a year.

I ended up not backing it at the time and ended up getting into the IP. I was lucky enough (and took a chance) to find someone on Facebook selling their pledge back in August for the all-in at $25 less than what they paid on Kickstarter! Just got my copy last weekend and played a bit through one of the scenarios and enjoyed it quite a bit. Can't wait to dig into it when I get a chance.

Thanks for taking the time to unbox. Never played the video game and don't intend to. Got a base pledge with hunters dream as the board game mechanics looked good and it was a good deal. Project elite was good but the more I see of the real mass produced cmon stuff the more I glad I'm glad i have no more cmon projects in the pipe, although md2 is a bit of a shame.

2:02:29 I've been seeing complaints about this reviewer for moments like these but this is why I'm subcribed to him. I paint my miniatures and what KoA is doing here is waving a red flag for people like me on how the miniatures are not secured, so I understand the frustration he's evoking. When you pay top dollar you as the customer have the right to demand top dollar in quality.

Wow you had fun making this; that’s always great to see. Thanks for the honest review. Keep up the great work. 11:58 Shadows of Brimstone... garbage. That made me laugh so hard. That whole project was garbage. It was the first KS I backed that I threw out - into the garbage. Campaign fulfillment was poor. Gameplay was poor. Production was poor. I’ll never buy/back another Flying Frog game. Ranting aside, I’d dearly love to see some painting videos on this.

Yet there are many people who consider Shadows of Brimstone the best dungeon crawler on the market. Quality of their minis improved considerably. Forbidden Fortress is the most beautiful game I own.

I own FF....and backed Adventures. I love the concept but hate how long and detailed the city portion is :( I want to dungeon crawl not brawl in a bar :P I hear they are doing a 2.0 that's more streamlined? The dev company however is garbage and I hate how little they care about interacting with backers :(

@@TheKingofAverage They made revised editions of the original core boxes with better minis but other changes are minimal. Adventures will be good for people who don't like city phase. :)

Me too! :) Everything but a few boxes will be retail. You can have some luck on sites like eBay, BoardGameGeek marketplace etc to grab a KS copy at hopefully not too high of a markup.

Nice unboxing. But sorry, have to disagree about the bases. I want them flat and neutral. Those who like to pimp their bases will change them anyway. I like them flat and neutral. Fancy bases are nice for figure that are just on display. That's cool. But they can be very silly during gameplay where a fancy base often doesn't fit at all with the room/terrain the figure is in.

Ah yeah for sure the base needs to fit thematically I agree there. A bas allows you to have some great and unique sculpt poses since they not longer have to stand flat on a base and I feel as long as it's done well it's well worth the effort :)

@@TheKingofAverage It's well worth the effort for people who want to have a fancy base. And I'm sure doing those are fun. But then CMON et al don't have to do them and would only slow down the hobbyists. I OTOH want a neutral boring base - exactly as they are now. That's perfect for gaming.

@@oerthling How are boring bases perfect for gaming? I'm asking because I'm curious. Isn't the whole idea of miniature games to be immersed in the world right in front of you? I think the textured bases are especially immersive for those who don't plan to paint their figures. And for us who like to "pimp" the bases its just a matter of painting the existing texture instead of creating and then painting it. At least that's how I think. :)

@@zhhrah Fancy bases often don't fit with the terrain. Why is there grass on the dungeon floor? Why is there loo at the feet of the hero while s/he attacks a monster in the roof. The figures create immersion, Fancy bases subtract (during gameplay, totally different if you want to our the figures on display). And there's no need. Fancyfying flat bases is a hobby for many. IMHO if a figure is meant for display - sure - design it with a fancy base. If it's meant for gameplay - keep the base neutral. Anybody who wants to fancyfy it can still do do.

Card trays did not look to accommodate sleeved cards. Only unsleeved? Is that true?

That’s not entirely accurate. I got all the Tarot sized cards sleeved with FFGs and they fit perfectly. Then, the mini American cards sleeved by FFG as well CAN also fit perfectly in the 4 “saved player” spots. This is more than enough for; the enemy action deck, 1 set of 12 basics, a set of upgrades and a mix of tools shards, which honestly is all you really need, especially if solo. The standard cards for the chapters, yeah you would need those double sleeve thin wraps to make those slots work

It would have added another 2 hours or so to film that part alone - it's actually quite hard to get them to spin evenly :( I don want to find a better system to do it easier without that huge time investment, but 5 hours of filming alone (not even editing time) for an unboxing would have been a huge undertaking. As it stand I feel the new camera shows off the miniatures better than that roundtable with my old camera ever did so hopefully that's taken care of "well enough" for now :)

@@TheKingofAverage I have watched the whole video: thanks a million: 1/Thank you for the freezer advice I didn't know (this would have been useful on Mythic Battle lol) 2/you have an evil laugh through the whole video it is scary sometimes :-) 3/to answer the video angle question: I don't really see the point in an unboxing to see you open the box in 1 angle, then open it again in the top view, I would reserve the wide angle for when you do a review not unboxing but i don't really mind because I love when your video last hours :-)

I got my order the other day in the mail. I got a duplicate mini in one of the boxes (hunters dream extras). I got 2 wheel hunters and no tonitrus hunter. I was hoping someone could help me out and point me in the right direction for getting this solved? Where/who/how do I contact to get this fixed? I know it will take awhile to get things fixed.

Mixed signal is right! :D To put an official label on it I'd mark it as Bad. Here's why: it doesn't matter if much of this is great, parts of it are terrible. If I were to make a fantastic board game, then poop in the box, is the box still good? Much like poop in a box, Bloodborne is not an 100% enjoyable experience from a component perspective :D

I got rid of the tray because with sleeves nothing fit, plus... there is not enough space for all tokens from the start. Replace those minis at 1:23:08, because mine do not have the ugly split in the middle at all.

The artist that created the beautiful tile artwork must be truly depressed about how the tiles have come out. And the licensing is going to make getting high quality replacement components 100% impossible. Take good care of your copies guys. :(

I went all-in because I loved the game so much. At first I wanted to skip the three small expansions because they were expensive for what they brought. But... Couldnt pass Rom, Ebrietas and the One Reborn... Needed the minis...

Since I think I'll like the game and I enjoy the IP I opted to pay the premium and get this via Kickstarter, but yeah retail is 100% the legit route to go for this for most people I feel.

super dissapointed with the mini quality here. The one plus is the semi usable tray systems that we're seeing putting in now which is a step, but I just hate the QC of the project and detailing on these sculpts along with how small the heroes had to be to keep scale.

Yeah shrinking heroes sucks as it's literally who you are in the game. I care a lot more about that over some random enemy. Sadly it's not just QC either, it's just overall design. Cheap options like cutting the mini in half down the middle versus using more pieces and focusing on that glorified single piece casts have really put CMON miniatures to below average at this point. Awaken Realms, Mythic Games, Monolith, Red Joker, Dragori Games, Archon and more are beating them and by quite a large margin at this point.

@@TheKingofAverage was this just your box? when I was unboxing my full-on pledge. not nearly as many of my minis were like yours. and none including the fly enemy were cut in half. the only thing I noticed was the abrietas daughter of the cosmos. one of her many tentacles was glued slightly off. (not a big gripe) and these seams aren't anything that some greenstuff can't fill in and fix. assuming you're gonna paint them anyways

I'm halfway through watching this, and I'm glad I only took base pledge. Cause the expansions look meh quality-wise. And I really hope the Zombicide 2.0 will be of better quality... It seems to me, I will steer away from CMON games on KS, 'cause they just sell you retail crap, with some extras in separate boxes. No KS version, where all fits in... My first big game was Blood Rage, and I loved all of it. I have yet to play this one, fingers crossed for the gameplay. As I did not play the Bloodborne video game, I backed it for an interesting deck management fight.

Shame about those minis, at least everything in the blood moon pledge (core +ks stuff) looks good to me. Interested to hear your thoughts on the game tho I think its a fun dungeon crawler. Also they changed how their boxes feel, its kinda like a grainy texture to me and their other game's boxes felt more smooth. Maybe its just me tho

After seeing you look at the dual layer boards in Solomon Kane, the flimsy cardboard crap in this game is pretty disappointing. That said, the game has been A LOT of fun and the player dashboards are the only real negative in terms of component quality. They take up a lot of table space too so I've been thinking about using just the trick weapon board and doing away with the junky dash board. Seriously, though, the game is really fun so I hope you enjoy it despite some component issues.

CMON doesn't need to put any effort anymore since they have enough people to back any project they launch to exceed the 1.5 million and afterwards they'll deliver but with the bare minimum possible just to keep the cash flow running.

Not quite I feel. The animation collection didn't even break 2/3rds of a mil. However based on their financials and path forward you can see what's going on. KS is actually a rather small portion of their total revenue, the vast majority is from retail and that's exploded for them over the last few years. So here comes a lot of IP driven board games with a much higher focus on retail sales than KS. KS is just an easy way to make a quick buck for them at this point. The reason BB is split into so many small expansions is because of retail expectations. The Animation collection might not make bank on KS, but it'll sell a ton right next to the puzzles at Walmart.

Fun fact: CMON has always used multiple manufacturers, though lately I feel they've dropped a peg or 3. For instance the company that made HATE is much better than the company that does Zombicide, and then there's the ASOIAF which is super quality. Recently though I've seen it pretty much plummet which is sad to see them fall so far from top tier. Even with the same manufacturer, in the end you get what you pay for. If you pay to have the tooling done, the space for more parts, pay for the higher quality plastic, etc. then it'll turn out better. There is skill involved so manufacture matters, but even within the same manufacturer your payment ranges depending on the quality you want. It's obvious to me that as their KS sales shrink and their retail sales grow that they are putting less and less money toward quality manufacturing.

Picking it up tomorrow. Apparently been at the post office for a week but notification wasn't sent. CMON went with budget shipping, no UPS, DHL or Fedex. 😅 At least I got a reminder today that I only have a couple of days to pick it up. 🙂

So one of my friend told me and he writes adds and articles for papers and stuff, that Its a weird rule that if you have less then 30 pages you don't need an index.

So there's multiple types of technical writing practices depending on real world use. For instance with work I read a lot of White Papers which you read to understand but then never reference again. For board games, you read it to understand, and then reference it in the middle of play. It's that middle of play that requires an index. You'll have a question for a specific thing and then need to look it up. This puts the game on pause and everyone waiting for you to find the answer as quickly as possible. To ensure the question is answered it's normally important to read everything about a specific mechanic and for those reasons I believe an Index is 100% required for a board game rulebook. A unique situation for technical writing for sure, but that's the real world example we all have.

@1:09:30 - Aside from VAT, the completely flat bases are one of the issues I have with CMON games. For me, if you're going to paint them, I find it's better to just slice their minis off of the base rather than apply texture around them. Adding anything around their feet made the character look like it was sinking in to the mud. It would help so much if CMON added cobblestones to the Massive Darkness minis or a concrete texture for Zombicide

HAH! Well lucky you :P Totally agreed btw they are behind the times there by a lot. Fun tip that might help ya out in other games too: freeze the mini. 95% of them use super glue so putting the miniature in the freeze for a few hours (I just do it overnight) will allow you to cleaning break the mini from the base perfectly with no damage to anything. Then just cut the posts off if there are any and add texture to your hearts content. Just be sure they still fit in their spot in the tray! ;)

Got mine, almost 4 weeks ago, still in the box+wraps. LOL. While the gameplay is quite different through some of the playthrough done by some of my local community, not sure it hit my interest. Backed it, as anyone, for the BB-fan bandwagon.... Mostly looking forward to Z2 month of Feb, before the chinese new year, 2nd week Feb hits. But , I doubt this year most commercial factories are going to stop, as most took a bad hit from pandemic. Chinese has that tendency to not take long holiday in trivial times,....so, my guess...factories will be close for only a short period. Enjoy your BB session.

@@TheKingofAverage doubt they will close factories/production for long period. Use to be massive exodus during 2nd-3rd week before Feb, factory people in the city going back to their hometown. With even limited traveling, and nothing much to do, most certain the work will continue after short break. anyway, I don't live in China, but have distance relatives there. What got me a few hours ago was my KS INifnity game just got taxed via DHL. Crap.

You can tell the difference between companys that care about the product and c'mon who does not. CMON never ships packages very well and the Awaken Realms goes overkill which AWESOME AND AMAZING

Thanks for this. I opened my Core Box but everything else is still sealed and I am no longer feeling this. To eBay it goes! I'm also out on MD2 after my $1 pledge after seeing this CMON quality. Good thing Storumsunder is still open. I think I will head overe there.
