I first bumped into a lady in this Zone asking me for help. I was a Draenei Paladin and she was a Draenei Hunter. It was the start of a 10 year friendship always playing WoW together and teaming up. She died on the 10th of January 2017 this year. Warcraft is a very empty world now she's not around. I often think about this zone now she's gone and listen to the music here looking at the red water. Last night I made a Draenei Hunter and sat by the campfire just as you enter this zone thinking of old times. Rip Wilma x
The first time I quested in this zone it felt like everything was hostile. The breathing funguses, the blood-tinted water, it even felt like the mutated mawed trees were going to uproot themselves and start attacking me. It still feels like hostile place everytime I level up there. One of my all time favorite zones in the game.
I remember my teenage summer nights spent wandering this map on my Draenei being overwhelmed at the amount of quests I had to finish. It was such a hostile environment; a huge contrast to the peaceful Azuremyst Isle. I died so many times here but the memories I made here are nothing short of magical - and yeah, almost ethereal. Up to this day, no other game stirs up feelings of wander and grandeur like Vanilla & BC World of Warcraft.
My early wow days, I'd do this zone so much, on alot of alts. For some reason the last few years, I've only been there once or twice, I recall a year ago I did do some of the quests on an alt. I'm defently taking my cloth armor alt to this zone soon.
despite all the hostile appearances, to me, this zone is one of the warmest, safest and most peaceful places in the game. the music, warm colors and freedom from strong mobs and large groups of players makes it feel nostalgic and beautiful. all the red should tire my eyes, but it somehow doesn't work like that. I love going there just to take a rest.
You are an alien that enters an alien land. But not entirely like the previous zone, only some of it's features changed by the extraplanetary incursion. This one was changed to it's core. It is alien not only to you, but to it's earlier inhabitants. Warped, uncanny, eldritch. This theme is one of a kind in entire fictional media, I think.
I remmeber coming here,all the RED!Holy damn! And of course i traveled to ELwynn forest after i was done there,thats when i remmebered'HOLY SHIT!There is somehting else besides Red,Purple,Tranquil and Gritty?!Theres normal zones?!XD Needless to sya i shouted this in general chat and everybody asked(What the fuck are you taling about) This was also TBC launch so those who kept leveling their mains had no idea why i was so surprised)
I remember this place :p I started WoW with a draeinei and i spent a lot of time in this island before I realized we could get off it with a boat near the Exodar :D so good memories... god damn, why WoW so changed since TBC ?!
My earliest leveling experience come from this zone. It felt like everything in that zone was a hyper aggressive mutant that only desired to kill you. Just walking through the wilds of bloodmyst was like walking through a mine field because you didn’t want to aggro any of the mobs in the area, even though it felt like every inch of that island was covered in NPCs that attacked on sight. It was this fact, coupled with the blood red waters, orange sky, and it’s ominous music, that really sold it off as some sort of massive ecological disaster.
so here we are again....i quit wow like 3 months ago cus of the sexual harrasment thingy....and i get this recommended and get the sense that i will resub soon....ugh
Haha me and my friend would always swim in that water and say that it was kool aid. that place was so RED. it hurt my eyes after leveling there for so long lol
