When Jody said it was a 6497, I thought, "Crap. This thing is going to be huge". I've never seen a 6497 movement in a 40mm case. I didn't even think it was possible. Very impressive. Dekla's gone above and beyond to give the customer top quality specs for $1,000.
Nice watch. I love the loud tic of this movement. I bought a Hruodland turbine pilot watch with the st3620, which is the clone of the eta 6497, runs at +2 sec whatever the position on timegrapher. Power reserve more than 54h, and the hand winding experience is just amazing. 168€ with also opencaseback
Good watches✅ Great pricing❌- Steinhart (Swiss) make similar watches with same movement similarly decorated at half the price. Great attention to detail❌- obvious brass centre post spoiling the back and white dial of a watch you have paid extra for white-gold hands? Average quality dial printing? Yeah, nah.
Oh yeah... absolutely lovely! Minimal chance I'll buy one but if I was wanting another piece in this general category, I'd buy it in a second. LOVE that movement and I can't believe the case is that small around that movement! Might have to wear my lowly Tissot Handwind with the 6497 or 6498 movement soon.
It’s a beautiful and elegant watch for sure. A bit too big for me. A more than a bit too expensive also. Especially since I’m not hugely into Bauhaus designs. But if you like, and you have the money, seems like a no brainer. Hope you’re enjoying your vacation!
I always seem to have a hard time with minimalist watches. I find minimalism as a pursuit and minimalism as an absent of thought and ideas hard to distinguish.
Finally, you're reviewing more Dekla! I've been wanting to get one of these or their Deckwatches. The UNITAS is a gorgeous workhorse that will last decades, and it's amazing they can get it in a 40mm case.
Love the GER bauhaus (well, most of them). Scratched my itch w the Junghans Max Bill. The most beautiful ‘4’ on a watch dial in history. Otherwise I’d definitely be interested. Good luck to Dekla.
Bought a Type-B after seeing many videos, but more specially yours. Only bad thing I can say it is was a long wait, plus a fair amount more expensive than what you paid (given inflation has come for us all). Definitely still a lot of watch for the price paid.
Cannot stand outer AR. Scratches super easily making your nice crystal look like shit + smudges as soon as you look at it. I had to remove it from two watches with a dremel, jewellers paste and an ice cube.....major pain in the ass to get it off!! Also, cool shirt!
That watch suffers from the same issue I have with my Dan Henry 1964 Panda Tri - the hands are near impossible to read at a glance. It's bad enough that I'm going to either paint them or replace them with black.
Thanks for this review. Bauhaus isn't for me but I checked out their website - the deck watch is a thing of beauty and just forced its way onto my wishlist.
Less than 24 hours into your vacation, and you're already posting a new review. You are amazing, Jody. Sweet watch. Really like the movement. Should have a quick release strap. Is the Farer all that you thought it would be on the beach in Tahiti?
Dekla produces everything but the movement, strap and crystal. My impression is there aren't more than a half dozen employees. I have a lovely Dekla Turbulenz. I chose the v2 dial which hit me with just the right retro futuristic notes. The lume is printed on at least ten layers thick and stands well above the crinkle finish on the dial.
Hi Jody! You should review the Aragon DF40! I got mine last week in Abalone and it is stunning! The lume is weak, but that’s about my only real complaint.
I was going to add a tick for the T, but I don't think you need that. Personally, I think the watch could be more Bauhaus, a much plainer dial. Pity. If it were, you might have called it a mullet watch, because the party's definitely at the back.
Not the same movement. Tourby use the ETA Unitas 6498-2 movement which is 21,600 bph. This watch uses the ETA Unitas 6497-1 at 18,800 bph. The Tourby watches are also about double the price.
Gorgeous watch. I love Bauhaus anything for its simplicity and elegance. But can’t we all live in peace and have 36 or 37 mm anymore? Especially in Bauhaus? 😂 I thought that vintage size is back in style?????
Love all the Dekla models. Hope they will do a diver at some point. Verbage for Dekla and Damasko 6 steel is exactly the same. Does anyone know who makes it for whom?
Dekla made parts for other German watch brands for quite a few years before they started selling any watches under their own name (sometime around 2010???). They're very low volume, my Turbulenz v2 40mm is two years old and bears serial number 116.
Not a bad looking watch. For simplicity I would have got a Hamilton Intra-Matic H38455131, can get as cheap as us$320 plus delivery/taxes sometimes keeping it under $1k for import duty.
Soooo... 18,800 equates to how many Hz? Seriously, it's a beauty! Now, Jody... time for you to do a crossover video with the OzzyMan! That would be amazing!
But they are in 42 or 47(!) mm cases and the only Bauhaus-looking model (Marine Limited Edition) is more expensive! Still a good pick if you like that size of watch and must have that movement 👍👍
