Nice work Gav. I actually just started using an airbrush because I am tired of flooding bodies. Literally use no paint with an airbrush. Appreciate all the tips and thank you for the longer video. I know the analytics don’t like the long ones but we sure do.
A compass cutter is handy for arches, you can score cut up to an snap or can get one one perfect circular cut . Even if the arch isn't perfectly circular set up the compass to cut the highest point of the arch which leaves some small area to trim either side which is easier as you don't have to try get scissors at a weird angle at the top of arch.
Truly a work of art my friend. I actually own 7 crawlers/trail trucks but you convinced me to also go back, and to start collecting these amazing cars. With Tamiya, you can never go wrong. I subscribed to your awesome channel.
Gav I keep saying learn to use a air brush. I do all my cars with one, doesn’t have to be a expensive set up for RC body’s but trust me the results are way better than a rattle can when your doing detailed parts esp the amount of masking not needed Top job still looks 💯😍👍
Great video on body painting!! Your masking tip is the same as what I do too 😉 Would be great to see more of this type in the future as doing up bodies is always a challenge. More tips and perhaps showing more of the techniques used would be very helpful too!! 👍🏻
Great work Gav, the GT4 is one of my fave rally cars, i need to do an escort cosworth in repsol colours, but as im going to run it in the iconic cup, i wont be doing it to this level of detail. Will get trashed 😂
The black strip on the doors can the whole thing be put on and the square decal with the number 2 on it be held up to it and used to mark the black strip for cutting out that section so to remove it and them stick down ur number plate. That way u get ur door jam cuts in the right spot?
I thought I'd made a mistake and cut the mudflaps off but you've done the same. Not sure if they should be on or not, but I might get another body and cut less off the arches
I used to use the cheap masking for the rest of my bodies and never again id rather pay more for tamiya masking and just use that all over but still looks great
I have a Tamiya Toyota Celica R/C car. My car has a much newer chassis. I also got a Tamiya pre-painted body separately. I did not think that I could paint a body like that. Thoughts?
you are way more patient than i am. even with the small flaws it looks amazing. if it looks good from far away, i am happy with it since i burn out and fly before anybody can see my weak paint job anyway! when i was a kid, tamiya had paint markers that made the edging a bit easier, so I used those things. haven't seen them in a long time, but i think they were a bit hit or miss anyway, which is probably why i don't see them anymore. still they helped me out a lot especially in the corners!
