The 32 minutes flew by watching that one and I was out of breath just viewing the video. Your attention to detail is phenomenal even putting boards up to stop the mound of earth going onto the borders. Top teamwork.

I feel your pain. I am digging out footings and hit a surprise pipe coming from the neighbour kitchen sink waste shoehorned in to our customers soil pipe. New manhole going in Monday but it's changed everything plus I now have to buy a load more fittings :(

Good to hear that you wait for the build inspectors advice......then again steve, you just about look old enough to remember the Clarke Of The Works being a permanent feature on building sites, so you definately know what happens when you do not listen to their advice. Dug the foundation’s for our renovation/extension. Bloody hard work pulling those levers 👍🏻😂😂. But on a serious note working on the farm years ago spent the whole winter digging in gate posts 10s dozens and dozens of the things dripping in telegraph poles hangers and fallers 4ft deep 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫

This was so interesting! We have a similar issue with a rainwater pipe running along out footings, did you guys shutter around your pipe and then add polystyrene and then fill around/on top of the shuttering with concrete? If so we may do the same.. Any tips would be much appreciated!! :D

I like digging foundation’s, always have done . First job I did when I was 15, over 30 years ago

Can’t fault you guys on the quality of you work but you need to get up to speed with your access to height arrangements. Independent bandstands and scaffold board with no edge protection is iffy. A step or trip off the edge plus landing in the excavation you’ve dug could easily end up with life changing injuries. Noted a mobile tower of scaffold might not suit but safe stand do a bandstand arrangement that incorporates edge protection and secured ladder access. Ex builder now H&S advisor…… who’s done risky things in the past and been lucky. I know too many people who haven’t had my luck. Look after yourselves.

We are never allowed to leave gas pipe in oversite, we always move it much to our and clients annoyance.!! The waterpipe is fine though..!??????

Never an easy job but that dig looked good ground to dig out Mate. 200mm to 300mm under invert level pipes here in wales. Always a pain digging out and hard graft that people dont understand .so much work and money below ground and pricing it there always needs to be a contingency incase things change. Concrete in now steve you can breath mate always a relief to get it in and done .Also trench fill now is so much easier we always used to go 600 mm x 300mm depth and build out of ground now we trench fill which is a better job and saves the back knees and hips mate .As usual you've worked hard and done a cracking job you boys . That's a really nice trench fair play I dug a hole for daisy moose's sister a month ago .I had to get the kango out then the neighbors started complaining and it was gone six on a Sunday morning .I wasn't my usual cuddly fluffy fun bundle

Can I ask what's in the mix for the foundation? I was going to go with 1-2-3 and I was thinking of adding waterproofer. The watercourse for about 5 back gardens runs towards my house. What I am technically doing is building a barrier around the house to stop water penetration. I can see where the path around the house has been raised (now as high as my first step, airbrick now sub grade and they have used something that looks like, to me, the 'black sand' left from foundry work casting. But I think you mentioned lime and I was wondering as per usual.
