Baron has said that retail investors cannot resist the urge to sell a 2x gain and therefore miss out on the 10x and 20x opportunities. Master this and you can become a wealthy investor, else do as Ron suggest, just give him your money to manage.

Ron Baron is force to be reckoned with on Wall Street. I follow in his footsteps. I just started a fund with my buddies from grad school, and we are doing exactly what Ron has done since the 1970s. LONG TERM investment blessed with compound interest is the way to go.

Just sold all my Baron BPTRX fund. I don't call losing 50% managing a fund. And they charge fees to manage. It would take a few years for this to come back to just where it was. I was doing better before I tried this Mutual Fund. I expect managed funds to cut losses in a bad market just like the money managers do on Wall Street when they go into cash to weather the storm.

Interesting, he acknowledges he could time the market sometimes by selling high and buy low while paying more taxes but also could have made better returns and then buy back into those companies he likes. Is that not his job if he know he could even if he doesn't prefer to do that?

Well he nobody can time the market perfectly and that’s what he was trying to say. No matter how smart you are the market is made up of millions of irrational buy and sell orders that may be sometimes detached from fundamentals of picking a great company.
