I would like to point out that I'm sorry if you have any issues with my guides. None of them will be PERFECT. I am not perfect. Understanding a tower 100% is near impossible. I test all of the towers in a similar way because that is the best way to "science" a tower. You limit the factors. Because of that, not all tests are 100% accurate. You need to take these videos with a grain of salt that what I show in sandbox, may not be what happens in a real game. Thank you.
Today we DIVE ;) into the submarine, one of the best and most exciting towers in the game! I'll explain all upgrades, all tiers, and 5th tier upgrades.

Great video again! Maybe you should have mentioned that the Reactor Sub does a much better job at de-camoflaging the bloons than the 3-0-0 due to its much higher tick-rate. For me this is often a reason to upgrade it to 4-0-0, especially if the lane is straight and some fast bloons sneak through the range of the 3-0-0 sub. Keep up the good work! :)

For the triple guns pop count you just divede 1618 by 10 because airburst darts gave you 10 pops per shot. So the popcount should be 161.8. wich is accurate because the first few burst will not all hit because the dart is not surrounded by bloons

Quick Tip: Submarine darts only seek out the bloons if you get Advanced Intel! Barbed Darts used to give the seeking power in BTD5, but now it's been moved to Advanced Intel, even though it isn't indicated anywhere.

A few random cool notes about the sub: You can remove camo property from DDT's with 3/x/x sub. The banana farm and monkey village also extend the range of a sub (and monkey farmer i *think*). Not only that but if a monkey village has the camo detection upgrade 0/2/0, then the sub can detect camos in it's radius too. Only the main dart of the airburst dart has camo detection if the bloon is in range of a camo detecting tower. The child darts do NOT get camo detection UNLESS the sub has camo detection from the monkey village. There is a monkey knowledge perk that grants +1 pierce however it becomes useless if you get airburst darts. It won't give you extra pierce on either the main dart or the child darts :(

I remember the sub in battles. It was pne of the greatest towers in the game. I remember all those late games on ghostly coast. With monkey banks and apaches covering the land, and a whole buncha first strikes in the sea. Glorious times. But those are no more.

To avoid airburst darts messing up your numbers get an 3-0-0 sub submerge it then send out camo bloons

Subs cannot detect Camo itself, but when camos are in range of a Camo detecting tower they can attack it.

I just wanna clarify some stuff if you thought the same thing I thought for some reason If an advanced intel sub has a radar scanner village near it, it still won’t see camo bloons from the range at which it’s intel activates if the tower it’s using for intel does not have camo popping power. The camo has to enter the actual range of the sub to be popped instead of the advanced intel range.

25:20 it actually does kill DDT layers on CHIMPS. Really solid, but probably not great, as Ceramics overwhelm the screen

Something you missed is that bottom path t1 and t2 upgrades actually enhance the speed of "submerge and detect", "bloontonium reactor" and "ballistic missile"

Also noted that Advanced Intel is most powerful Upgrade for sub when you place across map multiple towers Because its range is increased depending of range of other tower So Ice monkey with small range is innefective

There is a monkey knowledge upgrade allowing the sub commander to reach all subs on the map, so it makes it a lot more worth, it can be pretty strong late game and free play with a bunch of 2-0-3 or 2-0-4 subs.

They nerfed advanced Intel, if u had a sniper anywhere on the map, it gave the sub infinite range, but I do put dart monkeys here and there to get range, I normally go 2-0-4 with the sub

First Strike Capability actually does shred one layer of MOAB and later splits 4000 dmg between what's left or when you're facing a BAD he does 16700

I think FSC does 8,000 pops TOTAL rather than layers. This means it does 8,000 damage to a BAD, or pops 8,000 reds or anything in between. In BTD5 I think the mechanic was the same but the total pops was higher.

Sjb, it would be nice to test whether or not the mechanics of the MOAB assassin are the same as they were in BMC. If they are, then pre-emptive strike is truly a monster in free play, as in BMC contested territory MOAB assasins had insta-kill priority of all bloons except ZOMGs (which were dealt with the true damage of the assassin instead) even when the health of those bloons exceeded that of a base health ZOMG. It would be nice to test this out by typing in a high number freeplay round and seeing whether the DDTs still get insta-killed.

So the first strike ability does 4000 damage to zomg as you said then another 2800 for bfs (700 each) then it also pops some of the moabs down to ceramics for I guess 1200 ish extra damge popping 6 of the 16 moabs

Superjombombo you literally answered your problem before you said it. The first dart for airburst dart hits camo bloons but not the ones the come out right? In that case then just use some kind of advanced intel + the monkeysubs bottom tier to test it.

A lot of towers that were super powerful in btd5 and not in btd6 are apache dartship bloontonium reactor and the ice tower upgrade that slows bloons

Does the sub commander add damage to the Ballistic Missile or Pre-emptive Strike? I did a quick sandbox test in Spice Islands with a 0/3/0 next to a 0/5/0 far away from the path against 99 rainbows. 0/3/0 had 49 while the 0/5/0 had 7... yes, upgrading the sub further reduced its damage. I did the test twice just to be sure. I then changed the 0/5/0 to target Strong, and the numbers changed to 0/3/0 had 26, and the 0/5/0 now had 52. Very weird. Adding a 0/0/5 to these two definitely increased the damage: the 0/5/0 Strong had 574, and the 0/3/0 had 369.

To accurately test how much Triple Guns affects popping power...just compare the pops of a 0/0/2 to a 0/0/3?

Do you think Acidic Dip not allowing towers to pop DDTs is a bug or intended? Acidic Dip says it allows popping of leads so it should allow towers to pop DDTs Lead properties, but currently it does not.

Yeah the tested towers have camo detection. 0-0-2 Dart Monkey has camo detection, but can't pop leads or DDTs. Gave the dart monkey Acidic Dip from the Alchmist and it could pop camo leads, but not DDTs

Every other upgrade that says "can pop leads" like Hot Spikes, Heated Dart Tips, Hot rangs can pop DDTs though, and they don't specify lead MOABs or reg Lead Bloons.

one thing I'm curious about: does the Sub-Commander (bottom T5 upgrade) stack with the reactor upgrade? (top T4) like, does it increase the damage the reactor does in its area of effect?
