This is a step by step demonstration of setting up a log and running the GT26 portable bandsaw sawmill supplied by Hardwood Mills. This simple mill is similar to the Woodland Mills HM130 and some of the smaller Wood-Mizer portable mills. I have owned this mill for two years, and have cut thousands of boards from it. It is a very handy and effective tool for producing your own timber.

How did removing the blade guides affect your cut?

Hi Joseph. Removing the guides didn't affect the cut at all. In my experience, the straightness of the cut seems to be all about the sharpness of the blade, and to a lesser extent also having the set of the teeth right. If these are out, than your cut will be wavy, regardless of guides or not. If they are in order, then you tend to cut straight. Cheers, Glenn
