Blower motor resistor replacement on Jeep Grand Cherokee. Soldering tips and diagnostic tips. Solder butt connectors: www.waytekwire... Blower Motor Resistor Kit from Dormanproducts.com 973-424 Music: Electropulse, Camtasia Studio
For future viewers the two wire plug goes into the blower motor. if you look at the blower motor on the right side there is a plug. I used needle nose pillars to pull it out and the red and black cable will pull right out
Great video... You installed the resistor over the new part brace so that's just gonna fall right out. Mine didn't come with the two new screws to mount to the new brace either.
dont forget to rever the feed wires to the blower motor or it will blow weak. pull the clip from the blower you will see the green wire on the left and the black wire on the right, reverse those if your blower blows air weak.
This happens because the blower motor is pulling too much current. So this problem will happen again. Another thing if you get the resister from the dealer i know they are backwards, chrysler screwed up! and you will need to switch them. good video
Yeah yeah not too much average in the wire and the wires start overheat yeah I have to replace mine I have a problem with this so I'm going to watch your video I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the automatic claimant control dual
What was the second wiring harness for? I have to same kit you showed but mine only came with the one harness you used so what was the second harness you showed at the beginning used for?
I'm having issues with my blower not working. I fixed the wires and still nothing. I think I might have the wires hooked up wrong. Could you show me which wires go where so I can follow.
I'm stuck on the last part where you install the resistor with the two screws. The sticky foam sticks to the plate, but not to the resistor. The plate screws in nice, but now I have the resistor with two holes. How do I fasten the resistor to the plate?
Just pull the resistor out and solder it back together. It may save you from buying a part you don't immediately need. I pulled mine and it was easy to solder and reinstall. Good video still.
Hey there! How exactly do I make sure the blower motor works before I buy the resistor? I was a little confused. Also how do I make sure the fan doesn’t blow backwards? Just match up the colored wires correctly?
So I had it replace my resister & it cut my blower speed in half. Made good heat just no air flow to push it. Ended up having to reverse the two wires going to the blower in order to get the blower speed back to where it should be. Anyone else have this problem?
I was informed that the wiring goes up to the right and over the blower motor and attaches about 6 " to the right of where you were. Take a look if you don't want to cut wires.
Check the rotation of your blower motor. I have installed blower motors that were wired backwards. It would spin fine but it would not blow any air. Remove it from the air box and power it up to see of the rotation is correct. If not you just need to swap the red and black wire in the conncetor
Possibly, just because it came from the dealer doesn't mean it is good. When I found mine running backwards I swapped the the black and red wires coming out of the blower motor and it all worked fine after that. They come out of the connector very easy with a small pocket screwdriver.
This applies to a 1999 to a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Automatic temperature control(the one where you set the temperature number on the dash). 1998s are going to be different. And hopefully you got the 98 with selec-trac and a good rear end!
aside from the a/c I was wonder if you have any idea why my jeep does this......when im on the freeway going 70-80 (no wobble in steering) now entering the exit ramp when applying the brakes the steering wheel wobbles up and down when breaking from 70 or 80 down to about 55 maybe 50 then no more wobble the from on the county rd max speed 55 (I go 60) breaking from there to 45 same thing then goes away just replaced breaks and rotors any ideas...tie rod ends?ball joint? stabilizer bar? (THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END SHAKE/WOBBLE UP AND DOWN NOT SIDE TO SIDE WHEN BREAKING)
This one is so hard to help with because are so many variables that could go wrong. I would start by checking the balljoints to see if they have play, then go to the steering linkage and tie rod ends. Leave the jeep on the ground on pavement and have someone work the steering back and forth. luy under the Jeep and watch the steering. Look for any movement or loose components. There are a lot of great videos for steering and wobble on youtube.
Flash Performance This sounds like the semi famous WJ wobble. The rear anti sway bar is inadequate for the job, especially when decelerating and turning at highway speeds. There is an aftermarket replacement that solves the problem. Installation is easy and there is a video by martinbuilt ?. on RU-vid.
That will be the blower fuse, when that blows the fan runs. Until you replace the fuse you have to switch off ignition and then unhook the battery when leaving the vehicle. I think its 40amp, its in the small fuse box under the engine hood to the left front of the engine bay.
00:19 " im working on a 99 jeep cherokee that i bought" .......wow what a idiot you are plus its fairly obvious which year it is pretty much all jeeps from 95-05 is the same
