Also fun fact, if you complete Chill Penguin’s stage first, the ice from his stage blows over to Flame Mammoth’s and will freeze a lot of the fire hazards across it.

i just recently learned about cutting off his trunk playing the megaman x legacy collection.

It's been 33 years and I JUST learned how to cut off his trunk.

In my playthrough of that game, usually do Chill Penguin and Storm Eagle’s stages first and get both armor upgrades. Then, in Flame Mammoth’s stage, I get the arm cannon upgrade. When I face the boss, I like to charge up Storm Tornado at times to do more damage, usually at the start of the fight and right after a normal slot of the weapon. Helps to quicken the fight to its conclusion. I normally don’t cut off Flame Mammoth’s trunk because that prevents him from changing the direction of the conveyor belt, which allows me a free shot at him.

Wish thr series let you alter and interact the bosses like cutting off Mammoth's trunk and Octopus' tentacles. I think X2 was the last time (pre X6)you could do this but that was the unique death animation for Wire Sponge (gets cut in half with Ostrich's weapon). Reminds me finishing enemies with the Z Saber in MMZ.

Chill Penguin's weapon works great too and it will cause Flame Mammoth to literally be frozen in a block of ice.

I was upset when you didn't cut off his trunk lol

As soon as your tornado hits for the second time, you can dash opposite the way you fired pulling the tornado offscreen faster so you can fire again almost immediately
