Power consumption of the XLi3500 is only 700w, i used to sell these Cerwin Vegas, and I drove them off a pair of Cambridge Audio 751R AV receivers rated at 200w RMS per channel in stero mode, but each one had a monstrous 1.6KW transformer (Yes, each one was powered off a seperate power circuit). They drove the balls off those speakers. crowns are great for easy to drive, highly sensitive PA speakers, but these Cerwins need a proper amplifier my dude. Forget about the watts, it's all about grunt, and you cant get that sort of grunt without a big power supply. Simple physics, you cant get more out than you put in - See "Law of conservation of energy"
I have cerwin vega too wondering what you have for a pre amp, curious if you maybe have a issue or not, I notice even if I use AirPlay vs Bluetooth the sound loudness changes
I was using a high end onkyo receiver but after a recommendation from a viewer ended up getting a Schitt Freya dedicated tube preamp that sounds amazing.. Now I can hpfuly say the is nothing wrok with my equipment other than crown isn't really high end but for their purpose and price you can't beat em. But I tell you I spent a Pyle of money and tried quite a few things to get to where I'm at.. I can't say I'm 100% satiefied because I'm cracked that way lol but over all happy with it.. The next thing I'm gonna do is byamp them and have the 2 2700w bowering the woofers and then the 1000w I will power the highs.. Then I can play with the gains and the eq to get that sound I want.. I just want that clean thump you get in that back seat of the var with pl 12" behind the seat to rock the house 😁
There is a blatant issue, home audio and p.a isnt directly compatible. The voltages that home pre amps /receivers put out of their rca outputs (.775) is a 3rd of what p.a amps needs. Theres a few ways to get this right, buy crown drive core 2 amps tht have a input switch, or a p.a mixer. Or do what he has done and buy amplifiers you dont need. Lol
I have the same two cerwin hifi speakers powered by crown xls1002 which is 350 watts per channel, I have a blusound node, and on the odd rock song I can get them to slightly clip, I could probably push 400-500 watt in them and be ok still but something seems odd or off to have to push that much power to yours
That little eq is really nice.. Puts out some clean sound.. Really impressed with the schiit products and the fact you can change the tubes for a new sound is pretty awesome.
Used to drive Peavy SP2’s (1x15) with a Peavy cs-800. DJ’d gyms, 8 way frat parties outside and man I bet these speakers will go way louder and flip shingles off your house 😂
