It's great when we don't have to listen to someone else's idea of "fantastic" music and we can just enjoy the engine and air sounds. I've been watching Blue Angel and Thunderbird videos for years but I have never seen one facing forward like this. It's like you're in the back seat but don't have to feel the Gs. And the shadows look awesome.
YES! I've never been a fan of the loud music they play and some guy on the loud speaker talking throughout their performance. Shut up and let us hear the sound of the jets. Better yet, put the lead pilots voice on the loud speaker talking through their cadence.
How did the Phantom & Hornet compare? I know there's nearly a 20 year difference between the two- as someone who was with them, what did one do better than the other didn't? Curious to hear & thank you for your service-
Matt Zimmer Don't know much about the F-4 but I'd expect that it's lack of fly by wire and automation would make it harder to fly and less capable in modern warfare.
im 51 years old and will never get to fly , just watching this video i cant be leave what iv been missing out on , these guys are true "" ANGELS "" i saved this video to my fav. to watch again ,, i will have to say on the first roll over i do think i might have lost my britches "" L O L "" "" GOD BLESS ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN OF OUR MILITARY "" GOD BLESS AND BE SAFE !!!
I was a member of the Blue Angel maintenance crew from 1987-1990. Best tour of duty in a 20-year career. I came from F-14 Tomcats and was selected to the Blues the first year they started flying the F/A -18 Hornet. Good times!!!
I know that's not easy to qualify for, then you guys were responsible for more work than regular squadron guys . With that 100% Aircraft Availability or the show doesn't go on ! I've had the privilege to see them in 7 different locations around 10 times or so always awesome! Favorite tricks are when all planes cross at one point and sound barrier surprise on the crowd (very deceptive and freaks everyone out!).
The true heroes sat behind the desk: mechanical and my fellow electronics engineers. And none of it possible without our crazy, but highly respected and beloved mathematics and physics nuts. You guys never let us down, you rock! We all dream and think and apply. Big shout out to all that majored in control systems and hardware engineering.
THE BEST Blue Angels vid on RU-vid!! Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Perfect without annoying music or jibber jabber! You guys are so professional and I'm sure that with all the intense practice...everything you do is simply second nature. GO NAVY!!!
One of the coolest flight videos I've seen! Amazing how tight in formation they stay when you see the shadows on the ground of all 3 Blue Angels flying together
Thank God for all of our service members. The U.S NAVY Blue Angels pilots are the best aviators on planet earth, the best of the best!!!Awesome vid of this incredible team!!!I am prior Infantry U.S.ARMY and will always feel proud that I was apart of our military.
My goal as a boy was to be a fighter pilot. Just after I turned 18 a drunk driver ended that. I'm turning 50 this year, thanks for allowing me to pretend even though I was a RIO instead of the pilot.
Thank you for this experience! I am disabled and will likely never be able to fly even in a commercial plane. As soon as you left the ground I could sense how wonderful it must be just to be above the earth and leave all of the wordly problems just for awhile. To be in a space of just beauty, flight and God's grace. What a blessing! May He continue to keep you amd your crew safe in the palm of His mighty hand.
The Life of Queen Pen Here is another 1 hour 4 min, Stan Jones video, in the back seat. It is even more fun because you can hear the communications between the back seater and the pilot, between the pilot and the control tower and the call out of each manuver. I found it fun to be listening to the communications through my headphones and watching the video on the big screen..it felt as if you are there. If you haven't seen "Blue Angel Ride ", ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6SyCj_yE0eU.html , posted Mar 17, 2017, seven days before this video, I don't think you will be disappointed.
stan jones- thanks for the ride, appreciated the look ahead and the sound of what the cockpit hears. Probably as close as we'll ever get to the real thing.
What a gift this was to all those in love with jets, planes, and flight in general! Thank you SO much for sharing this. I sat in a daze with a big smile. I know now the best way to relax and find my happy place (watching this video). God bless!!
The pilot flying the plane for us, never looks forward, he only fly's watching a certain spot on the lead plane and keep that spot in a perfect place through out the entire flight, amazing!
Incredible! I knew these guys were good but now I'm in shock! Watched this on a big screen with head phone up real close and fell off my chair twice!! Fantastic footage the best ever! Thank You!!! and the Angles WoW!!!
And wouldn't it be so cool if they had an amusement park ride that would feel like that! I know it still wouldn't be the same thing as being in one of those planes, but I'd think they'd do everything to make it feel like you are.
Thank you for pointing the GoPro camera in the forward direction. This is the first video we've seen looking forward in the Blue Angel cockpit, and it's quite mesmerizing! So relaxing to watch, like meditation. Add some coms from the UHF radios, and none of us will leave our laptops... Thank you again for posting this, just excellent!
Stan, this was one of the most incredible 57:53 I ever spent. Seeing it from an Angel's perspective truly gives one appreciation of how much work goes into perfection. Cheers!
Watched this on a large screen. WOW!!! Sat about 2 ft from the screen and got so into it that I could feel every turn and upside down maneuver they did. (almost threw up LOL)
Whew Tex, this is some slick driving. Honestly I'd be terrified if this thing was after me in any battle-ready interceptor configuration. Thanks SO much for nothing but the real audio and thanks fellas for the tour of this desert.
when I turn 12 my dad and I are going to join the cap so we can get our licenses. I want a j3 cub because it is as cheap as it is. you can still get your license man. just join the cap.
I started this video already pretty impressed by the blue angels. But seeing the speed, height, closeness, and synchronicity of the maneuvers performed, from the cockpit, I am beyond impressed. Beyond amazed. Beyond the yonder itself even. You can draw a box in the top right corner of the vid and that jet stays pretty much right in its center, no matter what, the entire fricking video!! I’m probably gonna hafta invent a word to properly describe the level of awe this video left me in.
@@stanjones8495 That was a very unselfish thing you did. It says a lot about you. Most people would have wanted it on themselves and it made for a spectacular result. When I saw this for the first time my wife was fighting Cancer. She lost that battle last January. On my bucket list was hoping to get an opportunity to fly with the Blue Angels before I check out, and for some reason this video gives me a sense of peace. It sure as hell beats seeing a Grief Counselor. Thanks for taking the time to post it and doing such a great job with the GoPro.
Oh my gosh.... I'm a female ... But if I could watch the blue Angels for several hours each day. That would be the life. I love to watch preciseness. ..... Perfection. .and honor. Wow.... . God job.
That’s an awesome view! Thanks for putting the camera forward and getting a great camera angle! 🤙 That made for a way better blue angel ride along video than the typical ride along videos! Good thinking.
Wow, what you see on the ground doesn't even compare to how close the F-18's are flying in formation. These men and women that fly these majestic machines are all brave and true warriors. Amazing footage Stan Jones, I've watched videos similar to this one but the others seldom ever illustrate how these birds are literally less than 36 inches apart.. Totally amazing and awesome.. - God Bless the United States Armed Forces !!
Only female considered a blue flew F-130. No female has ever flown C-18. Sad, but true. Still mad respect for all blues, including those who fly F-130 though.
The training, effort, concentration, execution, flying..... should be next to perfection!!... So great to see this video!!.. It was as if I was flying sitting behind

I notice the majority of time Stan Jones' reflection in the mirror shows his head turned, facing the lead pilot. At least that is what I believe I am seeing. Amazing confidence and technical proficiency. Thank you so much for this unadulterated film / footage. Natural ambient sound is the best.
The blue Angels are the absolute best of the best of the best. Additionally all of the pilots have balls of steel! I got sick watching this video on some of those inverted rolls etc. it's obvious why becoming a blue Angel is among the most intense and difficult training regimens that exist in the military (I'm also a huge Thunderbird Fan).... The Blue Angel pilots are very very very special.
I'm so absolutely stunned! Can't write what's going on with me watching your show! It was always a dream for me to fly a F16 that couldn't come true in any way... Anyway- it's awesome to fly with you! Godspeed and may the power with you!
Watching your video is the closest I've ever gotten, to knowing what it would be like to fly with the Angels! I was promised a ride with them in early 2001at MCAS Miramar - then 9/11 came, and the air show that year was cancelled. Don't ever take for granted, the opportunity you were afforded. God bless all our Service Men & Women for what they do!
So precise!! Notice how the pilot keeps the yellow part of the wing of the jet to the right to the 2 o’clock position in the window at all times!! They must have a very sophisticated way of communication and visuals and speed to keep so close and precise with movements! Awesome!! 👍👍👍
I was glued on him glued on the Lead! Reminded me of the no look driving scene from Fast and Furious where Paul Walker is gunning it and looking at the hot chick in his passenger seat!
Awesome opportunity!! I used to live in Barnwell, just outside gulf shores and have had the opportunity to see these guys many times. Awesome group, but have never seen them like this. Thanks for sharing
you gotta be kidding me!! the view on the runway with the other jets in front of you alone is totally awesome. Why nt jsut make a loop right form take off hahaha ... this is just absolutely amazing / looks like you almost scrape the wings on the ground ! cant thank you enough for this. We watch from the ground in Death Valley a few times a year/ i'd say i wish i could get a ride but ... nope, my lunch would be all over the place glad you all can handle it!
Boy am i jealous. I dream of flying F-22s in the US Air Force as a combat pilot. being able to see the aircraft i would want to fly if i end up in the navy/USMC instead is amazing. any front footage is amazing from a fighter. thank you sir for this rare footage
Most spectacular experience I've ever witnessed. I have always thought about how it must feel to be at the helm of one of these babies and boy it was like I could fell the Gs incredible thank you for your service guys to aviation the future looks like Star Wars is on its way. Loved every second of this vid
I knew they looked close together when watching from the ground, but I always assumed because we are so far away... now realize how damn close their wings are
I was curious as to a typical speed the Blues are flying, and there was a perfect opportunity to measure it! I noticed starting at video elapsed time 18:30 it took 12 seconds from over the approach end of runway 32 at NAWS China Lake to get to the far end. On Google Earth, I measured this distance to be right at 9,000 feet. So 9000 ft. / 12s = 750 ft/s. That amounts to 511 mph, or 444 knots. Seems fast, but that's what it obviously is. Question answered.
Yeah....theyre not going that fast....they're moving pretty good. Theyre allowed no more then 350 knots. If they were traveling at .8 mach you would see vapor coming from the wings when they pull up and bank.
I saw the Blue Angels when I was visiting family in Lousiana, they put on a great show of superb flying skills, I really enjoyed every minute...plus I think they must be allowed to fly a lot closer to their audience than our display team here in the UK, the fantastic red Arrows....😁👍👍
