The video describes a newly discovered wet-chemical, room temperature, one-step, mass production synthesis method of blue and black titanium dioxide (TiO2), phase-selectively disordered rutile P25 TiO2, featuring Hyoyoung Lee's group at SungKyunKwan University (SKKU).
The blue TiO2 shows an important application as visible-light driven photocatalysts.

What is the difference between blue and black? apart from the specters ... who confers the color to each one? REGARDS!

The phase-selectively disordered TiO2 (that is reduced from the anatase/rutile mixed phases TiO2 (called P25 TiO2, A:75% and R: 25%)) is blue TiO2. From our recent findings, there are 2 kinds of blue TiO2 nanomaterials, which are an ordered anatase/disordered rutile (OA/DR) or disordered anatase/ordered rutile (DA/OR) TiO2. Both disordered phases shows a black colored TiO2. We observe that the disordered phase of TiO2 gives the black color.

The precursor of this method is P25 TiO2 which is already made by flame synthesis process at high temperatures commercially. Even we can produce blue, black or mix at room temperature but P25 production already had used high temperatures. Is it possible to prepare from raw precursor to directly reduced tio2 at room temperature

Yes, we can reduce the anatase or rutile phase TiO2, which means that we can reduce any kinds of TiO2.

Is it possible to convert TTIP (titanium tetraisopropoxide) and Titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) into black or blue tio2 at room temperature?

Can you please tell me what grey Tio2 signifies? I prepared Tio2 nanoparticles and they were of light yellow color but after calcination changed to grey?

안녕하세요! 소개한 동영상 잘 봤습니다! 궁금한게 있는데 Black TiO2는 밴드갭이 줄어들어 빛 흡수영역이 커져 electron의 증가한 대신에 hole에서 반응하는 OH radical potential에 위치하지 않아 OH radical의 발생량이 줄어드나요?

비결정상들만 있는 Black TiO2 는 빛 흡수량은 크지만 전자와 전공 수송이 어려워져 charge trap으로 광촉매 효율이 낮습니다. 즉 전자 발생량도 줄어들고 정공에서 생성될 OH 라디칼 발생양도 줄어듭니다. Would you please send your detailed questions to me (hyoyoung@hotmail.com or hyoyoung@skku.edu). I will clearly answer your questions.
