Got the opportunity to play that trumpet solo with a good friend of mine who’s a senior doing the flugelhorn part, we ended up crushing it in our competitions and it was some of the most fun I’ve ever had
So the guy that has it is named Brian, he moved to Ontario last year. He doesn’t have a phone and we’re working on finding a way for him to send it to me either through a mutual friend or some other way
Helpful hints to enjoy the visual show: - -1:46 Butterfly larvae pop their heads out before retreating. By the end they (meta) morph into butterflies 12:31 - -2:21 The hornline is in a diamond shape for their diamond anniversary. - -3:30 Flight of the bumblebee symbolizes taking flight. - -7:38 Flags have butterfly imprints. - -8:52 The staircases make diamond tops for their diamond anniversary.
This was the only time where I watched a corps’ show for the first time in June and knew they were winning the whole thing. Usually, there’s at least 2 corps that I think have a shot, but 2017, I knew the other guys had no chance.
Definitely prerecorded midi synth. A synth can be quite brassy, especially on fast runs, where the attack of each brass synth note tends to be brighter than the sustain brightness.
Looking at the is now makes me realize how cool my band teacher is. He was part of the blue devils and as of right now, he’s accomplished many goals after the Metamorph. Concluding him being the lead trumpets is very awesome. As a trombone player myself it’s very awesome seeing how much the brass can do. (8th grade btw)
This felt like watching a movie. I absolutely loved this show and i still watch it about at least once or twice every other day. Edit: I performed in dci's openclass and i saw blue devils live aswell as being able to perform in Indianapolis omg a dream come true
At the very beginning, there are 16 snare players, and then 9 of them split off to get 4 tenors and 5 bass drums, so 7 dedicated snare players for this year.
2 months late, but still, the reason that that was repeated was 2019’s show theme. It was about the Blue Devil’s past, them visiting a cemetery of their old shows. You saw motifs to tons of shows, really a legacy show at heart. They are the ghosts of the past illuminating the future of the corps, hence the name “Ghostlight”
Competed drum and bugle corp 1975-1978 and The Concord Blue Devils were #1 Nationally back then. Now, I live in the area and am still awed 45 years later.
Yeah, but they are super underrated! Nobody claps for their solos and features, but if they are right after a drumline feature, then they get drowned out by clapping from the drumline fans. Its pretty sad
I was working at a big event in Utah on finals weekend and basically had to steal one of the event’s courtesy cars to get to a movie theatre in SLC to see the Big Live and Loud simulcast. It was risky; I could have been blacklisted from that event in future years. But what would you have done?
I would love to audios to be in the blue devils marching band! I love their uniforms, and I would want to play the trumpet in this band. My high school marching band director was a member of this band.
My God.. it's all so good... the damn rifles hitting on point every...single... time.. and that low brass.. be still my 💗 lol Ah hell I gotta get myself to dci next year...
I wouldve given this exact show a 97.9. Reasons are Guards Sabres were not in sync Overall just quiet Mallets were slightly out of sync Solos didnt get enough attention Horns sound dont blend in as much
JuJu Styles there must of been another corps warming up behind the stadium lol if you listen with headphones at full blast you can hear someone singing
99% sure it's horns and not vocals. You can sort of hear the same thing in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2OMBh_GwfaQ.html
endeavor 132 I assume you’re referring to the narration that begins at 0:50 and ends at 1:48. It’s audio of Jerry Seawright, founding director of the Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps: “Ladies and Gentlemen, the corps on the field...This is their first year in competition...This is their very first field show...You may take the field when ready.” And it’s part of BD’s show.
When are they going to get rid of all that JUNK all over the field?? This is not supposed to be a stage show, it is a marching show- where are all the flowing, beautiful forms that are the “music in motion” of drum corps and marching bands? All the props just make a mess and get in the way!
I'm Peter Griffin here to explain the joke. The "junk" that she refers to is the props on the field and what she doesn't realize is that dci has become way more harder and more visually (and musically impressive) than in earlier years. The joke here is that she doesn't like change and it scares her that dci is evolving. What she doesn't realize is that there are alternatives, good alternatives, to dci which is dca that keeps the old style of dci. Don't get me wrong, I, Peter, love older dci shows but now dci is evolving making dci better as a whole.
