Thank you to the Blue Devils and Matthew Iida for making this video possible!!! BLUE DEVILS 2023 The Cut-Outs Ageout Season Prelims Day Go-Pro Run Blue Devils Lead Trumpet Bubble Mute Soloist Jeriel Vazquez (August 10th, 2023)
I'm working hard to expand my range because I want to be lead one day for BD, maybe a second though until then. Right now I can only get a clean up to a D and almost always E. E and below is fairly clean MOST of the time but literally just feels like it cuts off at F except for very select days. I love watching all these lead cams to see what I should strive for.
I have a friend who's taught from the same trumpet teacher as you, and he told me about how you've progressed and it's been an inspiration to me, especially after watching this. keep it up 💪
@@bysuke-It’s probably a good idea if you’re going for those loud sizzlin notes. If you wanna sound really smooth and nice tho, I’d go for a deeper cup. 🤙
@@bysuke- I marched a Wayne GR this year and it was pretty solid for marching, it did the job whenever I needed to blend or cut through the ensemble. The only issues I had over the summer was when it would get humid and I would get sweaty so the mouthpiece would slip off my face because of the flat rim but that's also inevitable 😅
Jeriel what trumpet do you use outside of BD bc I’m lookin for a different Bach strad bc mine is not my type and I currently use a LR180S43 and I also use a LR190S43B but my school owns it
The trumpet I used in this video was a Bach/Conn Selmer Hybrid. Reverse lead pipes can be nice for an easier blow, but I suggest finding a trumpet with a smaller bore size if you’re trying to play lead. Overall, the bach trumpets are great all-around. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching! :)
@@turkishdelight6032 System Blue basically went under after COVID. You can still buy the mouthpieces from Mouthpiece Express and they still sell drumsticks and other percussion stuff (heads maybe) but I think the marching horns are done for
