This will always be my favorite blue devils moment. Not many corps could play something as common as when a man loves a women and blow away the crowd. I miss the Devils of the 90s. Way too much going on in today's DCI programs. This was REAL drum corps!
Broke my ankle marching that form at 1:30. That song at finals - that's what I want to hear when it's my day. I want to feel it and remember that time at finals. FYWW!
Still love hearing this!! One of my favorite pieces from the years I marched. We were next to BD at retreat a couple of times and I got to know by horn sergeant acquaintance Chip. There was always a lot of mutual respect between our two hornlines. I am glad I finally found this video!
Awesome. I marched from 1989 to 2002 in the uk. And was on tour with cadets in 2001 and 2002. I beleive 80's and 90's ( the beginning ) to be the most awesome to listen too...compared to nowadays, even though todays is still AWESOME, my opinion thats all
The real deal was seeing the DCI on the television, the upclose shots on PBS were what made this performance amazing. I would love to see the video online.
Thanks for the high cam shot!! I never saw the drill....just the PBS broadcast. That has to be a record smallest number of drill sets in a BD closer...6 (7 for the contras) And I love how you can see all the horn flashes on breaths in the last block when they're CRANKING!! God....I miss doing that with BD...La Fiesta probably looked the same way (and if ONLY someone had vid of our last practice run in 84!)
OMG, I've been looking for this for IDK how many years!!! Blueblood, you're the Friggin man!! I remember the first time I heard this, I was a freshman in high school. I'll never forget it.
just wish someone would post the full show... my favorite Blue Devils show ever... I was so happy to play the opener and closer back in HS... just wished I had the chops of those lead trumpets and the soloist in someone's there...
Sultry, Sultry stuff on a Saturday night!! me and my friends made fun of all his sayings back in the day. I also remember when Cesario said in 1995, that Phantom's hornline was "like taking a bath in chocolate". BD to me was most entertaining in the 80's and 90's. 2000's + is just ok for me.
1994 and saying the glassmen had a bunch of balls on the field which they did but it was funny cause it was like he was just digging for something to say.
While I disagree about the placement - 5th place was what they deserved - JessOnTheRun is pretty much right about the other captions. The horn line definitely carried the corps on their backs that year. Go watch the whole show, and you'll hear a *very* dirty battery. And the drill wasn't any great shakes either. Look, there wasn't anything magical about BD's return to dominance in '94 - they just brought the other captions to the same level as the horn line.
I’m a cavies fan so 1992 is one of my favorites now that being said I saw BD beat cavies a week or so before finals so what happened in a week that had BD beating the eventual champion one night and drop to 4th few days later? I’ve always been confused by that.
So who are the five solo sops? Tim Meehan marched SCV that year so... Travis, Carey (sp?) and ? ? ? One name escapes me and I marched with the guy. Bonus - who hits the doubleC (concert G) at the end of the sixteenth ascending runs?
