Blue Gill Slamming in Oneida Co, Wi - 2015

This is some of the video taken during my mid June trip up to Oneida Co, Wi. The first day we tried to fish the Willow Flowage, which is an awesome fishery. Jason managed to land 1 small northern there on a minnow before we had to leave the Willow. Unfortunately we were rained out for the rest of that day. The next day we decided to fish a lake a bit closer & smaller due to the unsure weather we had that weekend. We tried for game fish for awhile but had no luck other than another small northern. Just for the heck of it (since we had crawlers for walleye) we went after pan fish. That turned out to be a great idea & fish fry, lol.

LOL!! Steve, they're too small, throw those guys back! I can't stop laughing! Thanks so much for the mention. Once it stopped raining, your outing looked like a ton of fun. Plus, you guys ate like kings! You ought to demonstrate those recipes for us some day. Thanks for taking us along my friend!

+Juanelo1946 I was thinking of you while I was catching those guys, lol. I was thinking "would Juanelo keep this one??" Of course that far up north you're really just about at the northern end of where blue gill family of fish range. So a 9in gill is like a 5lbs bass up there, lol. That was a true; throw in 2 cans of whatever with leftovers put in pot to warm up & eat. It turned out pretty good. I may do a cooking video someday. Thanks John, off to see your latest video.

+MrPaulinmi Hard to beat days like that. I think I had too much to drink (if there's a such thing, lol) by the time we started to eat, lol. The game fish weren't on the bite so I was cracking beers before we got on the gills. Good times for sure. Thanks

+BigMike315Fishing Idk who doesn't, John has got some monster gills in that pond. The guy has worked very hard to get them that way though. I would love to take some of those crappies out of there he doesn't care for, lol. Thanks Mike.

second day looked like it turned out good. old camp stove on the boat love it been there done that. be safe

+gmanlipripper You know it bro, that's the way do it. We had to go to a bay that wasn't being blown by the wind to cook. It paid off because it was on the way back to the blue gill spot when we had that eagle fly by. There's actually 2 of them, one was up high & that was why the camera was on. Then the one that flew by, came out of nowhere.

Sucks with the rain but I can relate to it as much fishing as I do...Them gills were some dandies brother...

+Heith Gagnon Yeah the weather forecasts up that far up north can be 50/50 at best. We would've stayed on the Willow had it only been rain, but a few claps of thunder were heard. That's means it's get off the water time, lol.

+donald plank Thanks Don. The blue gill family of fish don't get super big that far up north. Anything pushing a pound is a really nice fish up there.
